Politics Tony Benn signed 1997 Post Offices official Autographed Editions FDC. He served in Harold Wilson's Labour government, first as Postmaster General, where he oversaw the opening of the Post Office Tower, and later as Minister of Technology. Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn (3 April 1925 - 14 March 2014), known between 1960 and 1963 as Viscount Stansgate, was a British Labour Party politician who served as a Cabinet minister in the 1960s and 1970s. He was the Member of Parliament for Bristol South East and Chesterfield for 47 of the 51 years between 1950 and 2001. He later served as President of the Stop the War Coalition from 2001 to 2014. A mid 20th century haberdashery cabinet, fitted with three rows of ten glazed drawers, with drawers below, enclosed by a tambour front119w x 49d x 198h cmOverall usable but scruffy. Glazed drawers open ok and have hardboard bases. Drawers at the base have been adapated later. Likely to have been fitted in when originally made as a shop cabinet, as the sides are unfinished and have old screw holes. One side has been grained with wood effect and the other painted white gloss. Wood is generally dry, with remains of old stickers. Unrestored with general marks and signs of use. Removed from the vendor's family shop in Essex, but has been used in their house in recent years.
