A set of eight 19th century Sevres porcelain cabinet plates, each painted with a portrait of an aristocratic lady, within a cobalt blue and gilt border, to include "Claude de France", "Madame Elisabeth", "Marie D'Angleterre" (six inscribed "S61" verso and two inscribed "S60" verso) CONDITION REPORTS Plates are approx. 22.75 cm diameter. All have quite heavy wear to gilding and some of them with gilding largely worn away, metal wire hangers attached which may have put some stress on the plates, plates have dull sound when tapped and not known whether this is due to the attached metal wires or whether there are any fault lines, condition of the portrait paintings themselves generally appears reasonably good, with just a few scuffs, although the gilt titles beneath the portraits are quite worn.

A miniature oak spice cupboard, the single door with linen fold decoration enclosing eight various drawers CONDITION REPORTS Size approx. 42 cm wide x 33 cm high x 23.5 cm deep, overall with wear, scuffs, knocks and stains, some mouldings coming loose, various chips, some splits, hinges are later replacements, some woodworm holes, knob handles to interior may also be later and are of varying styles, overall appears to have had various alterations and repairs and later additions including to mouldings and front left section of cabinet, possibly the back and part of the door surround, possibly also some alterations to the drawers to interior as veneers and mouldings differ from the mouldings to the frames/structure for the drawers. Appears to be late 19th Century / early 20th Century in construction, and has panel pinned sides to drawers. Appears to be made up from parts of various ages, with some pieces probably earlier than the construction date.

Overall with wear, scuffs, scratches and some chips. Quite a lot of wear, splits, losses to veneers and repairs and restaining to the base. Fabric to the interior is very faded.

SP A fine 25.5 23.5cm wartime photograph of Winston Churchill seated at his desk and holding a cigar in his right hand, signed in ink ""Winston Churchill"" on upper margin. Bromide print, corners (and possibly edges?) trimmed. Vertical crease to centre of photograph and some silvering to margins, but otherwise a superb picture. Glue residue to rear, some pencil annotations. Mounted, framed and glazed, overall size 41.7 x 37.5cm. The photo was taken by Cecil Beaton in Churchill`s cabinet at 10 Downing Street on November 20, 1940.

An excellent signed portrait of Russia`s most famous novelist.

Minor browning to mount edges and wear to upper margin on printed rear, but nevertheless an impressive item.
