Japanese late Meiji/Taisho period Shodana or cabinet, early 20th Century, surmounted by a pierced pediment with bird amongst foliage between scroll ends, the upper tier having pair of central shibayama-style doors with gilt backgrounds and Greek key borders between conforming single doors, asymmetrical arrangement of recesses with pierced shaped back panels of similar design and pierced aprons over sliding cupboard doors, drawers etc, raised upon a Chinese style incurved stand, the side with flower head and diaper work carving, measures 129cm x 36cm x 207cm high Condition: Some breaks and cracks to piercing of pediment and scroll ends, some typical rubbing to gilt lacquer work panels and typically losses to shibayama decoration, general wear commensurate with use. *General condition consistent with age
