A Victorian Figured Walnut Desk, labelled Sopwith & Co Patent, Manufacturer, Newcastle-on-Tyne, circa 1870, the upper section with two cupboard doors flanking a fall front with an inset green leather writing surface and an arrangement of pigeon holes, the base with moulded top and sliding drawer to the side with pivoting turned legs for support, the desk with eight graduated drawers, on a platform base, 143cm by 80cm by 155cm See illustration Thomas Sopwith, son of a cabinet maker, invented an ingenious type of desk with all its drawers secured by a single lock, name the Monocleid, which won a prize in the 1851 Great Exhibition. Thomas Sopwith is listed at Dog-Bank, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, see Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, pg.839. Maximum length extended 255cm. Slightly faded but a uniform colour. Top of superstructure with numerous scratches, some deep. Leather writing surface replaced so in good cosmetic condition. Leather replaced to pull-out drawer to the side, so in reasonable condition. Some very small natural small splits around the moulded top and plain frieze. All drawers open. 100220
A Figured Walnut and Featherbanded Bookcase Cabinet, the cavetto cornice above a cushion shaped drawer and later moulded cupboard doors enclosing an arrangement of thirteen drawers around a central cupboard door, a pull-out writing slope below, the central moulding above three featherbanded deep drawers above a moulded and wavy shaped base, on turned feet, 18th century and restored, 112cm by 60cm by 224cm See illustration

Brooks & Co of London - a Victorian burr walnut music cabinet, having a scroll carved three-quarter gallery with inset mirrorplate, over a front having five hinged panelled doors operating from turning one finial, concealing gilt tooled leather faux volumes for sheet music, over a pull-out fall front drawer concealing exercise piano, the base with mirror back, fret carved side panels, and fine quality leaf carved scroll uprights over platform undertier, w.75cm, d.45cm, h.154cm. This piece was reputedly made for the Great Exhibition of 1851, and was featured on the Antiques Roadshow when transmitted from Ely in 1979, where it was examined by Arthur Negus.
A 19th century gilt bronze pedestal comport, having Sèvres porcelain inset cabinet plate decorated with cabbage roses within a cobalt blue and gilt border, with Sèvres factory backstamp and further annotated verso (plate a/f), the whole supported in a gilt brass fruiting vine border, the circular base surmounted with two cherubs over a cut frieze, h.19cm, dia.25cm

An Art Deco figured walnut cocktail cabinet, having typical twin hinged upper compartment enclosing mirrored interior with sundry contents, over twin cupboard doors housing integral shelf over bottle holder compartment, with shaped chrome and ivorine inset handles, h.117.5cm, w.64cm, d.38cm.Approx. 3.5 x 3cm patch repair to veneer to back right corner of top surface.A large area of the front doors with central crazing and surface fading.Scuffed area of approx. 7x1cm to lower left corner near fallfront compartment.Some spots of treated woodworm close to the veneer patch repair, and to front edge of top pane.Small veneer losses to edged extremities.Some fading to surfaces and general age wear throughout.
