A Victorian burr walnut and ebonised inlaid writing cabinet, with gilt metal gallery above two panelled doors enclosing stationary pigeon holes and drawers, above pull out leather tooled writing compartment and panelled door enclosing shelved interior, raised on plinth base, 112cm high x 54cm wide x 41cm deep CONDITION REPORT: Lot 528 - small scratches and nicks from use, especially to ebonised banding, biro scribbles to inside cupboard doors, lock area on left door is slightly damaged/re-glued, light stains to interior pigeon holes, light abrasions to navy skiver, small chips to walnut veneer, scratches to interior door where shelves rest against cupboard door, colour fading, couple of water marks, key present for top doors but doesn't appear to lock bottom doors, top door don't meet in middle, looks to be a strip of ebony lacking, large crack to back panel
A fine Victorian aesthetic movement ebonised cabinet probably by Gillows, the top section with gallery shelf above gilded floral roundels and five shaped floral fabric panels, raised on turned columns above open shelving and drawer, the lower section with drawer above two doors with hand painted panel to each by Moyr-Smoth, flanked with further open shelving, balustrade columns above undertier, raised on turned column supports, 208cm high x 138cm wide x 50cm deep CONDITION REPORT: Lot 525 - abrasions/flaking and chips to paint and wood allover, some discolouration to gold fabric panels, strip of banding in drawer but not sure from which part it has come from, chips to paint on panelled cupboard doors, but good sturdy piece, no key present but door unlocked
