Denby Sweeting (British 1936-2020), Cwm Glaslyn and Llynn Cynwch, oil on board, signed bottom right, framed. Consigned from the artist's estate Denby Sweeting was a British realist painter who is best known for his depictions of British domestic animals and floral studies, painting from his studio in North Wales. Sweeting was born in Bristol but spent much of his early life in London, having spent a number of years in the care system before being apprenticed as a cabinet maker. He made a career for himself in painting and picture restoration and was a member of the International Institute for Convervation of Historic Works of Art. In 1975 he relocated to North Wales and set up his own studio there. Sweeting was a founder member of the Federation of British Artists and regularly exhibited at the RBSA during the 1980s.
