A mahogany bureau bookcase, circa 1790 and later, the glazed cabinet top above the associated bureau base, the fall enclosing a fitted interior, 247cm high, 92cm wide, 53cm deepCondition Report: All over with marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,As catalogued the elements are associated, please note this was built for the photograph only, the elements are not stable when rested and will require screws to firmly secure together. The base appears to be circa 1790 but with some repairs, restorations, alterations to locks and handles, however this will require further restoration work to replace the lost veneers, one lock totally removed, one handle missing the pull, the lowest drawer is stuck in the carcass. Chips and losses, old splits and cracks, sections of veneer and timber loss in places, losses and old damage to the interior of the fallThe upper section appears to be late 19th century in make. It is unknow when they were 'married'. the bureau may have been designed to have a bookcase or not, Dreweatts has no opinion. A 19th Century Dutch mahogany and marquetry inlaid side cabinet, the top set with floral and bird motifs above a single drawer and two cupboard doors flanked by inlaid pillars, raised on square tapering front legs, 96 cm wide x 49 cm deep x 94 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Various losses etc throughout to the veneer and marquetry, a couple of large cracks to the top as well as damage to the varnish etc. Front is similar: areas of patching, replacement, areas of loss, some cracking, replacement handles, escutcheons etc, lock missing to the interior, splits to the sides (whiich have had some later repairs), inside shelf is bowed, wear and tear conducive with age and use.
