James II (1685-1688), Crown, 1687, second laureate and draped bust left, toothed borders both sides, legend surrounds IACOBVS II DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, garter star at centre, date flanking top crown, seven strings to Irish harp, reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX, edge inscribed +DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI TERTIO (S.3407; ESC.78; Bull 743). Old cabinet tone with some residual mint bloom, even detail in parts of hair with honest wear in line with the grade, set out on a round flan. Good fine on a round flan.

Original ticket included, which appears to be in the hand of Simon Bendall, with a price of £135.

Light cabinet toning struck with partially rusty dies, chip at 10 o’clock otherwise very fine, the reverse comprehensive with a good rendition of moneyers name.

A Flora Danica plate painted with flowers and with a gilded reticulated rim, marked to the reverse 'Sagea Arvensis' and Royal Copenhagen mark (25cms diameter). Also with a Royal Vienna style cabinet plate, painted with Amor and Venus and titled to the reverse (23.5cms diameter). (2). *CR Flora Danica, two small areas of restoration to the rim (one of these with a white patch on the back, one with a small chip, both areas with points missing on the rim), some wear to the gilding on the rim Vienna style plate, large chunk of the rim has been broken and restored with a hairline crack running through that area (which you can hear), nibbles to footrim, Vienna mark looks a little odd and may have been added later.
