Brown D. of Physick. London: for Edward Farnham, 1657. 12mo (138 x 75mm). (Some pale marginal staining to title and Preface leaves, minor browning throughout.) Contemporary sheep (rebacked in modern calf, some chips and wear to covers). FIRST EDITION of this work spuriously ascribed to Sir Thomas Browne. The Preface is signed in type "Religio Medici." Its authorship was denied by Sir Thomas Browne, and the actual author is unknown. Contains a 2-pp. publisher 's advertisement at end for John Baptist Porta 's Natural Magick [published 1658]. A Parnall & Sons shop display cabinet for John Hill & Son, Ashton-under-Lyne, with two glazed doors, enclosing two glass shelves, each of the glazed sides acid etched with the retailer 'John Hill & Son, Tudno Cake Factory, Ashton under Lyne', the base moulding on the front with an enamelled plaque for the manufacturer 'Parnall & Sons Ltd, Shop Fitters...Arrow Wine St Bristol', some damage and losses, 66cm wide x 31cm deep x 68cm highTop with stains, including decorator's paint and lacking back gallery (shadow evident and screw holes/chips, where would have been attached). Lacking right side base moulding and rear base moulding detached. Front left of base moulding lacking 5cm of edge of base. Enamel plaque chipped and damaged. Chips, dents and scratches consistent with age and use, including chip adjacent to catch on the front.

A late Victorian/Edwardian painted satinwood cabinet on stand, painted with scrolling foliage, paterae and twin handled urns, inlaid with boxwood and stringing and rosewood cross-banding, the shaped pediment above a dentilled cornice, over two glazed doors, enclosing a painted interior with two adjustable shelves, the projecting base with a frieze drawer, flanked on each side by a projecting circular corner, over tapering, fluted circular legs, united by 4 stretchers, supporting a central oval undertier, raised on turned feet, 111cm wide x 55cm deep x 222cm highGeneraly ok. Lacking finials. Minor chips, dents and scratches, including returns of cornice and the back side corners of the base of the top. Some small fine hairline cracks on the top of the base. Lacking some small sections of satinwood veneer on edge of the top of the base section, including 2cm and 1,5cm sections on front and two 2cm sections and a 1.5cm section on the right side and a 3.5cm and three 2cm sections on the left circular projection. Right glazed door slightly warped in the centre. This can be closed and locked, but needs to be pressed firmly.Minor restoration, including some rosewood cross-banding on drawer and later shelf supports, possibly interior paintwork.

A Georgian mahogany and oak long case clock by F Johnson of Lincoln, the break arch dial painted with a farmyard and pastoral scene, circular dial bearing Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials, eight day two train movement with bell strike, the case by George Usher, cabinet and clock maker of Lincoln, with a broken arch pediment, raised on turned columns, trunk door with fluted quarter columns, raised on bracket feet, with weights, no pendulum or key.
