George III Irish mahogany bureau cabinet, the upper stage having a finely-carved swan neck pediment with dentil moulding, flower head terminals and central eagle with outstretched wings clasping an egg, in turn above Chippendale-style blind fretwork frieze and a pair of bevelled mirrored doors enclosing three adjustable shelves, the lower stage with sloping fall enclosing a typical arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes over green baize-lined writing surface, the front with four graduated long cock beaded drawers having brass swag handles on bracket feet, 102cm wide x 52cm deep x 243cm high Provenance - By repute from the estate of Mr E.S. Clarke, proprietor of the Island Spinning Company, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Ballyaughlis Lodge, near Hillsborough and thence by descent Condition: Tight crack to centre of pediment, losses to blind fret work on right side of frieze, minor losses to gilding framing the shallow bevelled mirrors, which appear to be original, lower section appears to be associated ('marriage') as of much plainer design, loss above top drawer key hole where lock has been forced and losses beneath each of the four key holes - Please see extra images and TELEPHONE department if you require further information
