Inventory of the Writes[sic] belonging to Hary Innes of Sandside Esquire, Now in his own Repositories at Sandside 1761....ms 55pp in sepia ink in a clear hand, sewn in contemporary brown paper covers, small folio; A hand drawn and coloured plan of lands bordering Loch Calder, Thurso, very distressed and torn, 1830, other ms documents relating to Sandside - Thos Sinclair dated 1671; & 1750 relating to lands in the parish of Reay; Will of Ronald McDonald, Lieutenant of Marines on HMS Essex, with death certificate dated 1768; a Latin document of 1765, a few later Victorian wills; a marriage contract of 1860 between Major William Donald Macdonald of the 93rd Regt and Miss Emma Anne Elizabeth Lindsay.; A large wax seal of the Great Seal of George II (broken but complete) in tin seal box; An unusual oblong octavo early 19th century note book (some leaves watermarked 1833) containing 53 cut out silhouettes, 10cm in height and smaller, pasted to the facing page only, most identified in pencil, mainly members of the Macdonald family and their relations, including Hon. A quality reproduction mahogany cylinder fronted corner cocktail cabinet in the Georgian manner, the upper compartment with mirrored interior and illuminated with two plate glass shelves, and with a cupboard below also enclosed by two panelled doors, on dwarf cabriole legs and with shell carving.
A George I burr walnut bureau bookcase, circa 1720, cornice centred by an eagle finial, above an oval mirror, pair of arched bevelled mirrored doors, opening to cupboards, drawers and pigeon holes, above two candle slides, the fall opening to cupboards, drawers, pigeon holes, sliding well and baize inset writing surface, above two short and two long drawers on bracket feet, 254cm high, 103cm wide, 60cm deep. Provenance: Formerly the property of Major John Courtauld of Burton Park, Chichester. Thence by family before gifted by Jeanne Courtauld to current vendor. A William IV mahogany console table, circa 1835, rectangular top, frieze carved with scrolling acanthus, on elaborate scrolling supports, claw feet, above a concave undertier, 100cm high, 140cm wide, 60cm deep. Provenance: Christie’s, London, Fine Furniture, 20th September 2001. Lot 116. Anonymous sale, Sotheby’s London, 5 July 1996, lot 149. A paper label on the reverse inscribed in ink ‘...4 37 A. Brocklebank’ (?) and ‘119’, and inscribed in chalk ‘LOT 149’. The crest carved the frieze is that of the Case family of Ince and Red Hazels, Lancashire, and Thingwall Hall, near Liverpool. The overall design of the table relates to patterns for ‘Console’ and ‘Pier’ tables issued in George Smith’s, Cabinet Maker’s Guide, 1826, pls. LXIV and XXVII.
