A LATE 19TH CENTURY OAK FOLIO CABINETWith pair of enclosing panel doors, 107cm wide; 71cm deep; 138cm highCondition report: Overall, in good condition. Some minor scuffs and scratches overall commensurate with age and use. The top with slight variation in colour with fading, and various scuffs, scratches and marks.Various small chips in areas, notably one to the right handside corbel and one towards the base of the front right door. An applied moulding block to the top frieze of the right hand side return, at the back edge, is currently loose, and requires re-attaching (currently in frieze drawer). A thin section of moulding is also split and require repair.Interior drawers with some remains of the labels to the front edges, and brass pull-out handles.
‘HEAL’S’; A LIMED OAK SIDE CABINETWith drawers over cupboards, on block supports, ivorine disc to drawer, 152cm wide; 89cm highCondition report: Overall, in good condition. Marks and stains to the drawer linings and interior of the cupboards from use. Slight minor wear and very slight scuffs to the exterior, commensurate with use and age.One key.Some movement to bottom of drawer linings, slipping out of position and drawers a little stiff. Handle to one drawer probably resecured.
CHARLES NOSETTI; A PAIR OF VICTORIAN GILTWOOD AND COMPOSITION GIRANDOLE MIRRORSCirca 1870, both labelled to the reverse ‘C. NOSETTI CARVER & GILDER, UPHOLSTERER & CABINET MAKER, 398 & 399 OXFORD ST.’, 60cm wide; 110cm highCharles Francis Nosetti (c.1831-1909) was active from the above address from 1854 to 1881. He promoted himself as the carver and gilder to Napoleon III and best known for decorating the chapels of the Brompton Oratory. Condition report: Dirt, dust, various chips, cracks and losses in areas, commensurate with use and age. One mirror with broken off tapering berried finial to the base of the mirror. Parts are present and requires restoration. Various other smaller losses to the same mirror, including a small section of missing beading to the top right and several dented / chipped areas to the moulded decoration, and loss to the flower of the scrolling crest above. The second mirror with more losses to the candle nozzles and missing end right section of the leafy crest. Some later gilt decoration in areas. Foxing to the slivering of both mirror plates. A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS INLAID DISPLAY CABINETIn two sections, with concealed frieze drawer, 64cm wide; 153cm highCondition report: There have been some later adaptions/alternations to this cabinet. The backboards to the reverse are later painted backboards, suggesting a marriage of parts and later adaptions at some point.Overall, the brass inlay is in relatively good order and intact. Unusually the feet are gilt-metal mounted both to the back and inside, with some losses to these mounts. See photographs. The upper section has been altered, with later lining to the interior, the glazing later, probably originally the doors would have been panelled, to match the base. The side carrying handles are possibly a later association. The top does not sit fully comfortably on the cabinet top, but instead there are three thin runners on which it sits on the cabinet below, and is screwed into position. (Lacking screws)The hidden frieze drawer and concealed compartment behind the pediment. Otherwise, light scuffs and scratches, minor chips and bruises, commensurate with use and age. Notably a small section of veneer chipped off to the back edge of the side (with the lot).
A LOUIS XVI STYLE ORMOLU MOUNTED ROSEWOOD SIDE CABINETCirca 1900, with galleried marble top over pair of glazed doors and flanking rounded cupboard doors, 176cm wide; 123cm highCondition report: Overall, good condition. Restored at some point. Veneers have been polished. Gilding to the mounts is rubbed in areas, with some minor spots of verdi gris and tarnishing. Mounts resecured in places.Adjustable shelves - oak shelves, which look later.The back is pegged and secured with screws. Please see additional photographs. Some of the back boards to the reverse with old worm holes. A few marks, scuffs and scratches to the marble, with a thin slight hairline crack to the right side of the top. With keys.
A RENAISSANCE REVIVAL STAINED WALNUT CABINET-ON-STANDIn two sections, the central cupboard enclosing various drawers, flanked by standing figures, 95cm wide; 180cm highCondition report: Parts 19th century, top and bottom associated. The top section is probably missing a front panel, possibly a fall front. This is explained by patched hole at the top and two side holes. Further to where the fall would’ve opened, there is also a replacement two sided rectangular section inserted below the four small drawers. However there’s is little wear to the carved moulding below from the possible fall front. Old worm holes in areas, notably to some of the figures. Metal work later, hinges replaced in areas. Some back boards are also missing. General wear, knocks, rubbing. Some shrinkage cracks to the sides visible and to other areas. Cabinet doors have shrunk a little, with a small gap between and additional section of timber added and a further spliced in section to door, hinge side. Some small losses. Scuffs, dirt and dust. Otherwise, a decorative piece.
