WORLD COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, Art Medals, Germany, Josef Hilarius Eckhel (1737-1798), Jesuit priest and numismatist, Uniface Portrait Medal in Berlin Iron, by or after Leonhard Posch, bust right, name behind, IOSEPHUS ECKHEL, 73mm. Extremely fine. Echkel was admitted to the Jesuit Order at the age of fourteen, where he was to devote himself to the study of antiquities and numismatics. He was appointed keeper of the cabinet of coins at the Jesuits’ College, Vienna in 1772 and after the suppression of the Jesuits in 1773, was appointed professor of antiquities and numismatics at the University of Vienna and keeper of the imperial cabinet of coins.
COIN AND OTHER CABINETS, A late 18th or early 19th Century Mahogany Coin Cabinet, 480mm wide x 330mm deep x 315mm high, solid doors with veneer and ebony inlay, containing 17 double pierced coin trays and a plain tray, white pulls, bone escutcheon (one missing), brass side handles. Some cracks and chips to corners and back, doors a little curled, otherwise in good order.

Some chips and minor loss at back, otherwise a handsome early cabinet in good order.
COIN AND OTHER CABINETS, An early 19th Century Mahogany Collector’s Cabinet, 500mm wide x 295mm deep x 295mm high, containing 24 trays in two banks, fitted with square plush lined divisions, turned bone pulls, panel doors with bobbin turned quadrant beads around panels, handsome brass side handles, lock, no key. Some pulls are replacements, otherwise very good condition.
COIN AND OTHER CABINETS, A 19th Century Indian hardwood Coin Cabinet (possibly padauk wood), 375mm wide x 270mm deep x 305mm high, plain veneered doors, containing 16 double pierced coin trays and two plain trays, square numbered brass pulls, brass meeting bead and side handles, lock and key. A handsome cabinet in an unusual wood with distinctive grain, in good condition.
