Vintage signed sepia cabinet photograph, the image depicting Nansen in a half-length pose, gazing sternly into the camera and wearing a large fur coat. With the photographer's blindstamp to the lower right corner of the image. Signed to the verso in bold black fountain pen ink by Nansen with his name alone above a small newspaper clipping. Dated 24th February 1897 in an unidentified hand to the lower photographer's mount beneath the image. Two Royal Crown Derby Plates In Aves Design Comprises large decorative cabinet plate produced exclusively for Derby County Borough Council 1888 - 1974. Also a Fluted edged salad plate in the same design. Hand decorated 22 carat gold, the Aves range depicts Chinoiserie birds and foliage in gold on white ground. The design has been adapted from an embroidery pattern by painter, Albert Gregory. Both in very good condition.

John Blundall owned a substantial number of original drawings, illustrations, paintings and notebooks by 'Whanny', a selection of which is sold here. Blundall reminisced that 'it was always a great joy to be left in his studio, a real cabinet of curiosities, to sort through the vast amounts of oddities that were everywhere.
