Late Elizabethan/James I oak & inlaid canted cupboard, English, Sussex, circa 1600 – 1610. the plank top above an upper frieze inlaid with geometric and cork panels divided by floral brackets. Having a splayed cabinet with central door, inlaid with burr Oak quarters flanked by geometric inlaid side panels, supported on cup and cover carved bulbs. Above a lunette carved frieze drawer and open shelved base on further bulbous supports, with original carved lower rails, 125cm wide, 41cm deep, 114cm high
Late 17th Century William and Mary lacquered cabinet on stand, the cabinet decorated with chinoiserie ornithological scenes with gilt metal pierced and shaped corner brackets, hinges and ornate escutcheon enriched with engraved flowers and foliage, the interior fitted with eleven variously sized drawers lacquered with landscape scenes, with concealed compartments hidden behind sliding panels, the silvered softwood stand having scallop shells, swags and ribbons above the leaf capped tapering legs and arched feet, see a similar example at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Dr. Susan Weber Gallery, and on page 112. of World Furniture by Helena Hayward.
