A LOGBOOK AND EPHEMERA BELONGING TO WARRANT OFFICER ALBION HUDSON, a Navigator on 144 Squadron. Hudson and his crew are featured in the 1945 film 'Ship Busters.'An Airforce release book belonging to the recipient, his training notes, observers wings; Logbook with entries from 1943 to 1946; A photograph album which features stills and aerial torpedo and bombing photographs; A number of letters from his mother are present and photographs of Hudson; and two silver hallmarked ashtrays, one engraved 'R.A.F 144 Squadron, Who Shall Stop Us'. Albion Hudson was born in Knaresborough, near Harrogate, on the 9th of February 1919. He served in the Royal Airforce from the 21st of November 1941 until the 6th of August 1946. He qualified as a Wireless Operator / Air gunner on the 26th of August 1943 and as a Navigator on the 27th of October 1943. Hudsons' operational flying started on the 21st February 1945 with 144 Squadron. At that time, the Squadron was tasked with attacking shipping and in a flak suppression role. Hudson would take part in fifteen operational sorties. On his sixth op on the 24th March 1945 his aircraft was hit by flak. Interestingly his final two ops were after the war. On the 12th of May 1945, he was part of a convoy escort covering Naval ships transporting the Crown Prince of Norway and cabinet members to Oslo. His final op was searching for a missing Naval vessel on the 15th of May 1945. Albion Hudson passed away in 2004.
