David Mossman (19th Century) Portrait pair of John Collingwood Bruce and his wife Charlotte, circa 1860, watercolour, 17 x 14cms, in the original ornate cabinet frames, 33 x 29cms total. (a pair) Together with a copy of "The Life and Letters of John Collingwood Bruce", by his son, the Right Honorable Sir Gainsford Bruce D.C.L. Notes: Mossman produced a number of highly competent watercolours of Hadrian’s Wall, the study of which was also Collingwood Bruce’s most lasting personal achievement, therefore it is reasonable to assume that this joint passion is how the two became acquainted. A Neo-Gothic tomb and effigy of Sir John Collingwood rests at St. Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle.Provenance: by direct descent within the Collingwood Bruce family until purchased by the vendor.
An ornate Louis XV style walnut china cabinet/vitrine, late 19th/early 20th Century, the gilt metal pierced gallery and rouge marble top, gilt metal scrollwork frieze with four foliate corbels, above a single door opening to reveal a shelved interior, three vernis martin style panels below with pastoral scenes, raised on slender shaped legs, 67 x 36 x 150 cms high.

An early 20th Century Arts and Crafts mirror backed sideboard in the manner of Shapland and Petter, the inlaid crest rail and gallery back above a central cabinet with a pair of stained glass doors, flanked by bevel edge mirrors and spindle supports above a further bevel edge mirror, the lower section with drop centre, above a dog kennel recess, flanked by cupboards with stained glass windows and short drawers, raised on shaped supports and rectangular pad feet, 138 x 45 x 195cm high
A fine set of four Coalport cabinet plates made for the Chicago exhibition 1893, each painted by Josiah Rushton after Sir Joshua Reynolds with a shoulder-length portrait of a society lady on a pale yellow and gilt ground, within pierced feathered and scroll borders, each titled and signed on the reverse, comprising: 'The Duchess of Devonshire 1784', 'Nelly O'Brien', 'Lady Sarah Bunbury', and 'The Honourable Mrs. Beresford', titled, signed and dated 1893 in puce script, printed marks in green and Chicago exhibition marks in gilding, pattern numbers X1279 in gilding, each 24cms diameter.

An early/mid 20th century oak haberdashery shop cabinet, made by Dudley & Co. Ltd., Showcase Manufacturers, Holloway, London. 84x198x50cm.Used condition. Lowest lifting door is jammed open with no glass pane, increasing depth to 53cm at the moment. The upper and middle doors open and close smoothly. Back and sides have had layers of chipboard applied over the original sides. Some damage to drawer fronts. Has been stored somewhere damp, marks visible to front of base.
