Dated 1887 AD. Type M1/1, by J. Rochelle Thomas for Spink & Son. Obv: profile bust with VICTORIA BY THE GRACE OF GOD QUEEN OF GREAT BRITAIN EMP OF INDIA legend. Rev: crested arms with supporters with SIX PENCE above, date MDCCCLXXXVII below and SPINK & SON at bottom. Edge: with incuse MADE IN BAVARIA legend (positioned below bust"). 0.76 grams. ESC 6th, 3307 variant (inscribed edge; ESC old, 1781 variant (ditto)); BSC -. Very few of these patterns were struck (using four obverse dies and two reverses); ESC states twenty struck in aluminium but gives them as plain edge only; the inscribed edge types are given by ESC only for some of those struck in gold or copper. [No Reserve] Almost as struck; minor cabinet friction. Extremely rare; unlisted with inscribed edge in aluminium; unique?
