Moves well on the original ceramic castors. Of better quality than normal. In generally good condition commensurate with age and use.
Bassett Lowke Fine Model motor Boat MERCURY -clockwork Keywind in original case 1929 on stand. Made in Northampton and a fine cream green livery with wooden details. A wonderful 25” long boat carefully stored in the BL cabinet made box with metal plaque and sign . These boats were made by Stephan Bing who came to England and worked with Bassett Lowke in c 1930, from Bing Toys in Germany. This is a fine and wonderful example of a fine BL boat for any collector of Model Boats.( 1 + original box and original Key-Model has not been tested)
A Victorian burr-walnut table-top collector's cabinet, the 2 doors opening to reveal 8 short fitted drawers with recessed brass handles (except 1 drawer front), 34 x 32 x 30cmGood overall condition, general surface wear, scratches all over, left-hand side there is small amount of lifting of veneer and some of the moulding is loose, bit of cracking to the veneer on the doors, right-hand side has some lifting veneer and the recessed drop handle is lacking pin, 1 drawer front has no handle, no keys, doors are slightly warped
An Antique mahogany Apothecary cabinet, 2 doors opening to reveal a bottle-fitted interior (bottles not original), with drawer under, 28 x 22 x 19cm Good overall condition, the 2 fitted shelves inside have been screwed in with the screws from the outside which are visible to the sides, possibly another drawer missing, general surface wear and scratches, fitted with a lock and key and lock is working. There is a pin missing from the bottom draw however, so this does not lock.
OF ISANDHLWANA INTEREST: A CARVED WOODEN PLAQUE, title Isandhlwana and featuring the gesticulating figure of Iyumani, one of the last survivors recounting the great Zulu charge at that battle on the battlefield on the occasion of the 60th anniversary. The reverse with handwritten account of the anniversary talk by Iyumani, together with an album of cabinet photos, signatures letters and cards pertaining to characters and participants in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. He accompanied Alexandre Le Blond where he was commissioned to work in St Petersberg designing and creating a variety of decorative features - his piece de resistance being the Grand Cabinet made for Peter the Great. He returned to Paris in 1727 where, despite a general moving on in fashionable styles, he enjoyed a vogue extraordinaire. His designs spread throughout Europe which ensured that elements of his oeuvre were incorporated into interior design until the end of the 18th century.

He was born in Müllheim, Germany and learned cabinet making in his father's workshop, he then worked as an apprentice in the Hague before settling in London in 1731. He ran the Roentgen firm from 1742 to about 1800 together with his son, David. Abraham's then worked as a was characterised by superb marquetry and innovative designs, often incorporating hidden compartments, secret drawers and mechanical and musical devices and his work was sought after by rulers throughout Europe. One of his most famous pieces is the Walderdorffer bureau, now in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.For similar tea chests, see W. Koeppe, 'Boxes from the Workshop of Abraham Roentgen in American Collections', pp.104-105 and the Met Museum, New York, Accession Number 1999.147 for an example lacking its canisters.For recent auction sales, see Lempertz Cologne, Decorative Arts, 20th May 2022, lot 1810 for an example with a different escutcheon.
