Symonds 1807-11, London. 10 volume set in half leather. Large paper 8vo edition. Some 500 tissue guarded engraved plates by J. Greig and J. Storer, each accompanied by letter press description of the view. Some general foxing to plates, mainly in margins not affecting engraving.
*Five Royal Worcester cabinet plates, each painted to the centre with flowers within wide cobalt blue border heightened in gilt, signed R. Sebright, each having puce mark verso, circa 1900, dia. 23cm. One with reasonable amount of crazing front and back.Otherwise glazes and enamels are good.No chips or cracks.Very minor handling wear only.
*A Royal Worcester reticulated cabinet cup and saucer, on a white ground with painted floral decoration within gilt borders, puce mark verso, shape No.1471, registration No. 158959, date code for circa 1893, h.7.3cm; together with a Royal Worcester blush ivory teacup and saucer, hand-painted with flowers and heightened in gilt, having green mark verso, registration No.190547, date code for circa 1901 (2). Reticulate cup and saucer – very small chip to footrim, both grubby, otherwise good.Blush example – cup restored to rim, both grubby.
*A pair of circa 1900 Copeland porcelain cabinet plates, each central panel painted with fruit and flowers within a green border, with further floral panels, the whole heightened in gilt within scrolling borders, printed mark verso, retailers mark for Thomas Goode & Co of London, dia.22.5cm; together with one other Copeland plate, hand-painted with trout within pink and gilt heightened scrolling borders, signed T. Hassall, having printed Copeland's China mark verso, dia.23.5cm (3). Pair plates – no chips or cracks, one with 4cm scratch to centre, enamels bright and good, gilt wear to edge.Fish plate – small chip to underside of rim, otherwise good.
