Russia.- The Crimean War.- War Department (Topographical & Statistical Depót) Collection of seven confidential maps and plans relating to The Crimean War, including two large four-sheet folding maps 'Plan of the Communications from Sevastopol, Balaklava and Baidar to Simferopol' and 'A Plan of the Bay and Fortifications of Eupatoria', two folding double-page titled 'Plan of Otchakov' and a detailed plan 'Sevastopol', with other single sheet plans and maps, with 6pp. letterpress 'confidential' booklet on 'Kronstadt' by William Sadler, lithographs, some hand-colouring, the larger maps dissected and mounted on linen, one with blue-paper ends, all with War Department blind-stamps, all loose, unframed, [circa 1855]. ⁂ Rare. The present lot appears to consist of original plans of the British troops used in the cabinet at the outbreak of the Crimean War.
