A Victorian mahogany library bookcase cabinet. Raised on plinth base with white ceramic castors supporting a double door cupboard with drawers. Above a twin door glazed bookcase with adjustable wooden shelves. Flared cornice atop. Dismantles into 2 pieces for ease of movement. Measures 202cm high x 120cm wide x 40cm deep.
A rare single family owned local interest collection of CDV and Postcard albums. All relating to the Slocombe Family of St Phillips, Bristol. Starting in the late 19th / early 20th century, there are 2x albums of Carte De Visites / Cabinet photographs of family members, some showing military related portraits or members of family with medals etc. Accompanied by 3x postcard albums. The first (red covers) containing many real photo postcards of gatherings, family photographs and many military related, photos of Shaftesbury Crusade 25th Company Boys Brigade in Bristol c1910, Emmanuel Church Rambling Club, 3/4th Gloucesters regiment (several photos, including individual members), real photo card of the king and queen opening Royal Edward Dock at Avonmouth, a few of Portsmouth and other visited locations, some greetings cards etc. The second album (dark blue) featuring similar postcards to include; Real photos of Bristol, artist type, some comic, several of an Army Barracks / Parade Ground etc, views of Burnham & Weston Super Mare etc. The third album of postcards (light blue) featuring; mostly real photo cards of family members / gatherings; Barley Fields School 1915 (several interior views of classrooms and classes), soldiers, what appears to be a drama group with Christmas play, sailors, Empire Day, others relating to Emmanuel Church, Eastville Park, Boys Brigade and many other greetings / photographic cards. A rare and unique collection, all relating to a single family. Some of the album pages are neatly annotated as to who appears in which photograph. Fascinating images.
