The renowned Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine, which has historically served as the base for a number of important 18th and 19th century French cabinet makers, was the street upon which the locksmith Duvivier's business was located. Such locks by Duvivier have been discovered on furniture produced by Linke and Krieger. His vivacious style is seen clearly on this pair of plates, although the Royal Worcester factory preferred his formal paintings of swans.
