An extremely fine quality gilt bronze mounted Vernis Martin kingwood Display Cabinet, of double serpentine form, the domed top surmounted by a gilt bronze rocaille cresting, the central serpentine glazed door flanked by two similar serpentine glazed sides, all over bombé shaped Vernis Martin panels, each painted with lovers in pastoral scenes, some signed with initials, 194cms (76") high, 140cms (55") wide, French c. 1900. An exceptionally fine and rare carved Irish mahogany Dining Chair, c. 1775, after a design taken from Thomas Chippendale's "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Directory," London c. 1754. The carved splat back over a generous seat covered in hide, with reeded apron, pierced stretcher and reeded legs. (1) Provenance: Crosshaven House, Co. Cork. This exact Chair appears at page 211, in The Knight of Glin & James Peill's book, "Irish Furniture," Yale 2007.
