An impressive large 19th Century red lacquer Display Cabinet, profusely decorated with embossed gilt decoration, the pagoda shaped moulded cornice over two glazed doors, and glazed side panels, on a stand with four frieze drawers tapering square shaped legs, and bun feet, united by stretchers, approx. 221cms (87") high, 170cms (67") wide. A very fine late 19th Century red Boulle Side Cabinet, the shaped back rail over a rectangular top with bowed corners, and two doors with large oval shaped bombé panels, on a plinth base, the entire profusely decorated with ormolu mounts, a large mask and figural corbels, etc., 133cms (52 1/2") wide. An extremely fine quality gilt bronze mounted Vernis Martin kingwood Display Cabinet, of double serpentine form, the domed top surmounted by a gilt bronze rocaille cresting, the central serpentine glazed door flanked by two similar serpentine glazed sides, all over bombé shaped Vernis Martin panels, each painted with lovers in pastoral scenes, some signed with initials, 194cms (76") high, 140cms (55") wide, French c. 1900. An exceptionally fine and rare carved Irish mahogany Dining Chair, c. 1775, after a design taken from Thomas Chippendale's "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Directory," London c. 1754. The carved splat back over a generous seat covered in hide, with reeded apron, pierced stretcher and reeded legs. (1) Provenance: Crosshaven House, Co. Cork. This exact Chair appears at page 211, in The Knight of Glin & James Peill's book, "Irish Furniture," Yale 2007.
A painted kingwood 19th Century serpentine Vitrine Cabinet, of fine quality and desirable size, in the Vernis Martin style, the two front glazed doors flanked by two bowed sides, the four bottom panels painted with figures in landscapes etc., and decorated with applied cast foliate scrolls etc., on cabriole legs, 102cms (40") wide, 178cms (70") high.
