Seddon (John Pollard). King René's Honeymoon Cabinet, illustrated from photographs of the panels painted by D. G. Rossetti, Sir Edward Burne-Jones, Ford Madox Brown, etc., with a drawing by the author, 1st edition, London: B. T. Seddon, with kind regards Xmas 1902'.The architect Alfred Waterhouse (1830-1905) was associated with the Gothic Revival style of architecture and best known for designing the Natural History Museum in London, and Manchester Town Hall. John Pollard Seddon (1827-1906) was an architect best known for designing churches.

Histoire Naturelle Generale et Particuliere avec la description du Cabinet du Roy..., volumes 1, 2 & 3 (of 15) bound in 1, vignette titles in red and black, numerous engravings including maps, natural history, human anatomy etc., contemporary calf, rebacked preserving spine, 4toQTY: (2)NOTE:Nissen ZBI 3134 (Perry, George).Although originally criticized for its exaggeration of form and colour, Perry’s Conchology, or the Natural History of Shells is now accepted as one of the most attractive and colourful works on conchology. The illustrations were based on natural specimens from private collections and the British Museum. Some of the names assigned to shells by Perry are still in use today.
Harley (Edward, 2nd Earl of Oxford). The second item is considered the most important English numismatic catalogue of the 18th century.Edward Harley (1689?1741), son of Robert, 1st Earl of Oxford and Mortimer, married the only daughter and heir of the 1st Duke of Newcastle upon Tyne, who brought a fortune of half a million pounds. Not surprisingly, he collected on a grand scale so that at his death he was estimated to own 7,639 manuscript volumes, 14,236 original rolls, charters and deeds, 330,000 printed pamphlets, 41,000 prints, over 17,000 books (the finest private library in England at the time), as well as antiquities, coins, medals and pictures. The Harley Manuscripts were sold to the nation in 1753 for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum.

A reproduction mahogany military style knee-hole desk, with tooled leather inset top above an arrangement of nine drawers, width 150cm, depth 76cm, height 76cm, matching cabinet with base drawer and green leather chesterfield type desk chair (3).Condition Report: Minor losses to the veneer, fading, marks and tares to the leather, side cabinet with losses to the veneer, scuffs and marks to the leather, chair with heavy wear to the leather and scuffing to the frame.
A 19th century oak and marquetry table cabinet, with two doors enclosing eight drawers around a central door inlaid with views of rural villages, height 26cm, width 33cm, depth 23cm.This cabinet was used by the vendor's grandfather, a chemist from Dryepondt Pharmacy in Bruge, to house some of his medicines, in the early to mid-20th century. The origin of the chest prior to this is not known. Condition Report: Exterior with expected age wear and with cracking and lifting of the veneer. General scuffs and scratches. All metal hinges, handles etc tarnished throughout and some are loose. The lock to the central door is replaced and there is loss to the marquetry around this. Other general age wear throughout. It is possible that this is made, in part, from earlier timbers.
