Tray of assorted items to include: English porcelain hand painted floral design vases; Mason's 'Regency' breakfast cup and saucer; Wedgwood 'Willow' jug; Royal Worcester miniature fruit design cabinet cup and saucer; Wedgwood butterfly lustre octagonal bowl; Meissen type porcelain pickle dish etc.
Pair of Continental porcelain two-handled cabinet cups and lobed saucers, painted with reserved equestrian panels and gilding on dark blue ground, together with another cabinet cup and saucer with Augustus Rex mark, decorated with reserved portrait panels. (3) CONDITION REPORT: Augustus Rex mark sauced has two chips and one hairline crack. Cup has chip to rim. Both have gilt wear. The pair of cups and saucers appear ok, minor wear but both marks to saucer base are rubbed/worn, one worse than the other.
An Edwardian mahogany, satinwood, inlaid and decorated display cabinet:, of D shaped outline, crossbanded in tulipwood bordered with boxwood lines, having a moulded dentil cornice and frieze with ribbon tied floral garlands and cameo portraits on grisaille, enclosed by a central lozenge glazed astragal panel door flanked by a glazed panel of bowed outline to either side, the panels below decorated with neo-classical urns, ribbon tied musical trophy and urns of flowers, raised on short square tapered legs, terminating in spade feet, 145cm (4ft 9in) wide, 171.5cm (5ft 7 1/2in) high.
An 18th Century Anglo-Indian and chinoiserie decorated cabinet on stand:, with peony and chrysanthemum blossom and foliage heightened in gilt on a black lacquer ground, the cabinet with a hinged fall enclosing an ivory inlaid interior with stellar, foliate and lozenge geometric designs, containing an arrangement of six drawers, having a candle slide below and brass drop carrying handles to the sides, the stand on cabriole legs, terminating in pad feet, the cabinet 44.5cm (1ft 5 1/2in) wide, the stand 53cm (1ft 9in) wide, overall height 103.5cm (3ft 4 3/4in), with restorations.
Thomas Sherwood, Leeds, a mahogany bracket clock in the manner of Thomas Hope: the eight-day duration, double-fusee, five-pillar movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell, with shaped plates and border engraving, the round eight -inch white painted dial having black Roman numerals, , blued steel hands and signed Thos. Sherwood, Leeds, with the decorative gilded bezel having a continuous scroll design, the Romano-Egyptian style case, in the manner of the designer Thomas Hope, with tapered and fluted angle columns topped by acrotoria finials carved with a honeysuckle design, the case front with half-round angled mouldings inlaid with geometric brass stringing and a gadrooned pediment top surmounted by a brass pineapple finial, with obelisk shaped brass frets to the case sides, and standing on carved wood fan feet, height 50 cm (inc. finial).* Biography; Thomas Sherwood is recorded as working as a watchmaker, silversmith and jeweller in Leeds from before his marriage in 1802 until at least 1834. Two further bracket clocks are recorded signed by Sherwood.* Biography Thomas Hope was a designer who travelled extensively abroad to find inspiration for his work, being particularly interested in Ancient Roman, Greek and Egyptian styles. He set out many of his designs in the book Household Furniture which he published in 1807. This particular case style was in use, with some small differences, by a number of cabinet makers including Banting & France who it is known made one of the earliest examples for the clockmaker's Atkins & Son, which was in the possession of the Marquis of Bristol and was sold by Christies, King Street, London in May 2001.
A Victorian walnut, inlaid and gilt metal mounted pier cabinet:, decorated with ribbon tied and trailing floral foliage, the top with a moulded edge and crossbanded and boxwood strung cavetto moulded frieze, having a plush lined interior enclosed by a glazed panel cartouche-shaped door flanked by stiles headed with gilt metal floral foliage, on a shaped plinth base, 81cm (2ft 8in) wide.
A Chinese carved hardwood and simulated bamboo decorated display cabinet on stand:, the upper part with pierced and shaped bamboo cresting, having interior tiered shelves enclosed by a glazed panel door, the stand with a pierced bamboo apron and open tiered shelves below, 80cm (2ft 7 1/2in) wide, 207cm (6ft 9 1/2in) high.
A 19th Century mahogany and inlaid hanging corner display cabinet:, with an architectural moulded broken pediment centred by an urn and a moulded cornice, the interior with fixed serpentine fronted shelves, enclosed by an astragal glazed panel door decorated with sycamore lines, flanked by canted angles, 68.5cm (2ft 3in) across, 107.5cm (3ft 6 1/4in) high.
A late 19th Century Japanese Shibyama decorated wall cabinet:, with flowering trees, branches and sprays, heightened in gilt, ivory and mother-of-pearl, the upper part enclosed by a singled hinged and pair of sliding doors, having shelf below with shaped open and pierced fret back, the cupboard below of D shaped outline, enclosed by a pair of doors with drawer below, flanked by an open compartment to either side, 67cm (2ft 2 1/2in) wide, 109cm (3ft 7in) high.
A Chinese carved ebonised hardwood open display cabinet:, with pierced and blind fret carving throughout of scrolling foliage and flowerheads, having a three quarter ledge superstructure and fitted with an arrangement of shelves with pierced galleries, on block feet, 77cm (2ft 6 1/4in) wide 157cm (5ft 1 3/4in) high.
A Victorian walnut, inlaid and gilt metal mounted breakfront side cabinet:, decorated with sycamore lines and foliate scroll designs, the top with a moulded edge and crossbanded cavetto moulded frieze, enclosed by three mirror panel doors between stiles headed with female masks, flowerheads and foliate scrollwork, on a shaped plinth base, 178cm (5ft 10in) long.
An 18th Century French walnut cabinet on a later stand:, the upper part with a moulded cornice and applied geometric mouldings to the frieze, enclosed by a pair of arcaded panel doors flanking a central geometric panel, the later arcaded stand containing two short fielded panel drawers, on turned legs united by plain stretchers, terminating in bun feet, 86cm (2ft 10in) wide, 116cm (3ft 9 3/4in) high.
