A 19th Century amboyna ebonised and gilt metal and porcelain mounted breakfront side cabinet, with brass mouldings bordered with boxwood and harewood lines and applied with Sevres style porcelain plaques depicting female figures, cherubs and floral foliate sprays, the centre with an open mirrored back compartment and cupboard below, enclosed by a pair of doors with oval plaques depicting female figures in ribbon tied surrounds, flanked by a small drawer and an enclosed glazed cupboard to either side between tapered pilasters with gilt metal Corinthian capitals, on a plinth base with short turned tapered feet, 184cm (6ft 0 1/4in) long.
A Japanese hardwood upright writing cabinet on integral stand, with carved and Shibyama decorated panels to the sides and enclosing door, decorated with cranes, chicken and other birds amidst blossoming foliate branches and with figures heightened in ivory, bone, mother of pearl and brown lacquer, the reeded and flowerhead decorated cornice with scroll ends, the interior with arcaded pigeon holes, the stand with pierced scroll and foliate apron on square supports united by a platform undertier, 67.5cm (2ft 2 1/2in) wide, 174.5cm (5ft 8 3/4in) high.
