A 17th century and later Dutch inlaid oak cabinet chest, mother of pearl, ivory and simulant inlaid, with frieze drawer above a deep drawer with octagonal and arched foliate panels, above two cupboard doors, on block feet, 118cm H x 116cm W x 60cm D (the chest splits into two sections) CONDITION REPORT: The top is not original and much of the cornice detailing and moulding around the upper section is later. Replacement and re-attached sections of moulding around the geometric panels etc. The feet are not original. The inlaid panels have replaced elements in a resin and some may be bone. Much of detailing to the cornice may be replaced. General age wear throughout. Despite faults and replacement sections the overall appearance ok. Please see additional images. It is likely that this piece was overhauled somewhere around the early part of the 20th century. Please note: Trevanion & Dean does not ship items containing ivory outside the EU. The government have proposed legislation to create a UK law to ban the sale of all ivory which is likely to come into effect by the end of 2018. Please note this means that this lot is legal to sell now but may not be in the future.
A Regency mahogany bookcase, with two arched astragal glazed doors enclosing shelves, over three drawers and two cupboard doors, on bracket feet, 242cm H x 142cm W x 49cm D CONDITION REPORT: General appearance is good with an even colour throughout. There are age wear marks and scuffs to the bracket feet, small section of the moulding to the left hand side of the base (the moulding which sits as a lip to secure the top to the base), which is chipped. General light age wear here and there but overall ok. The doors are not warped. The shelves inside have later beading pinned to them to act as plate supports. The sides of the cabinet are a stained wood.
