A specially commissioned Dresser Base or Sideboard, principally of oak construction with a Burr walnut top. The five front and two rear legs being of elegant turned form united by a pot board base, there being four free running frieze drawers of Jacobean style with tear-drop handles, 83 3/4'' long x 17 3/4'' deep x 33'' high, keys present. A contemporary demonstration of the modern cabinet maker's art.

CHINESE LACQUERED AND INLAID CABINET ON STAND,late 18th/early 19th century, the top with detail of twin ducks amongst reeds above single drawer and twin cupboard doors, these featuring roosters amongst peonies and further floral blooms and enclosing two shelves, the stand similarly inlaid and raised on cabriole supports, 104cm high, 71cm wideProvenance: Has been in the Duncan family of Parkhill, Arbroath, since the early 19th century; believed to have been brought back by two Duncan brothers serving as surgeons in the East India Company and has remained with the family descendants ever since.Split in wood to top. Some spots have possibly been repainted/restored. Likely missing top structure, with areas filled in/painted over where this would slot in. Score to top and general surface wear/scuffs, also watermarking. Flecks of loss to inlays throughout. Lacquer worn off at edges. Split to bracket to one front leg. Watermarking to lacquer on one door interior. Latch mechanism slightly rusted and stiff. Wear to bracket where doors close over: some delamination. Construction has some wiggle.
