A French carved walnut armoire, mid 18th century, 231cm high, 163cm wide, 61cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, The internal configuration has not been built whilst at Dreweatts, there are various later brackets to the sides of the cabinet and a hanging rail - one bracket of which appears to be mounted to a new piece of timber that sits on these brackets to the side. this probably originally had slides or shelves, there are elements present with the lot but Dreweatts cannot guarantee these are all the required elements for use in a domestic setting - some elements may need to be sort by the purchaser. A Scottish Regency mahogany dressing table, by James Mein of Kelso, circa 1815, with remains of the makers label to underside, 93cm high, 100cm wide, 53cm deep The Mein family are recorded as cabinet makers in Kelso from 1784- 1851. James Mein (the elder) founded the firm as makers of fine quality furniture and following his death in 1830 his nephew (also called James Mein) took over the business until its dissolution due to bankruptcy in 1851. Their many important patrons are known to have included the 5th & 6th Dukes of Roxburghe at Floors Castle, and the Earl of Haddington at Mellerstain.

A Continental walnut and 'star burst' marquetry commode, incorporating some late 18th century elements and later adapted, with grey marble top, 94cm high, 120cm wide, 54cm deep Condition Report: Please note, this lot should be dated as 'incorporating some late 18th century elements and later adapted'. It appear the at the doors are adapted from one larger door from a period piece. The rest of the cabinet has been constructed from later elements. Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age an use. Old splits and chips. Marble top with some additional scratches and chips to edges. It has a small glued repair to one corner. Marble is later associated. Some additional splits across doors. Filler used in various places. No key present, lock is open. Later floral paper lining stuck to interior.
