A 19th century brass mounted burr walnut combination writing slope/stationery cabinet with fitted upper section, twin glass ink bottles and two internal shelves, width 35.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally intact, surface dirt and some traces of usage commensurate wit age, tarnish to brass mounts, the top lid doesn't close properly, some areas of scratches and dents, no parts seem to be missing, no key. Please refer to the additional pictures to assess the degree of wear.
A Japanese Meiji period ivory miniature cabinet overall engraved and inked with figural interior scenes with ebonised edges, the pair of doors with phoenix shaped handle enclosing three similarly decorated drawers, bearing scratched four character signature to underneath, on fitted rectangular base with elaborately carved in relief architectural landscape to each side, 9 x 5.5 x 7.5cm excluding base (af). CONDITION REPORT: There are losses to the ebonised detail of the edges, the hinges of doors need attention and one needs reattaching, general surface dirt and wear commensurate with age both to the cabinet and base, chip to one of the base legs.
A late 18th century Spode porcelain cabinet cup and saucer painted with various birds in mountainous landscape and with floral sprays on green ground, both pieces dated 1793, diameter of saucer 13cm, and a Chelsea style leaf shaped dish, length 27.5cm, unmarked (2). CONDITION REPORT: Cup: rubbing to the gilt, some small losses to the painted decoration, one noticeable indentation to the glaze probably present from manufacture, pitting and surface abrasions to the glaze. Saucer: Rubbing to the gilt with small losses to the painted decoration, pitting and surface abrasions to the glaze. Plate: Losses to the painted decoration, pitting and abrasions to the glaze throughout with some firing imperfections.
Two 19th century Derby cabinet plates to include one inscribed 'Bessborough in Ireland', number 170, diameter 24cm, and a Bloor Derby floral decorated and gilt heightened example, diameter 23cm, all with the Varnum collection sticker to the base (3). CONDITION REPORT: The Derby Bessborough in Ireland plate with areas of dirt to underneath of the rim, numerous areas of rubbing to the gilt and a few chips to the edge of the base, the other Derby plate with wear to base and rubbing to the gilt, the Bloor Derby plate with slightly rubbed mark, wear to base, a few hairlines spreading from the rim, fine extensive crazing to the glaze, rubbing to the gilt, all with minor surface wear.
A set of six Royal Crown Derby Imari pattern decorated cabinet plates, diameter 26.5cm, two smaller examples, a further shaped circular pair and a tea cup with saucer, pattern number 1128 (12). CONDITION REPORT: The shaped circular pair with areas of rubbing to the gilt, one with partially rubbed mark, the set of six dinner plates and two smaller examples appear to be in good condition, none of the items with obvious traces of damage or restoration, majority with surface dirt to underneath, some with traces of old stickers.
