A gauge 1 live steam model of the British Railway 4-6-2 tender locomotive No 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley', made by Aster Hobby Co., Inc for Fulgurex. (Built up). The cab with fittings including steam pressure gauge, water sight glass, regulator and other usual fittings. The model finished in British Railways green lined livery with fitted steps, handrails and lamps.The model has never been steamed and comes together with its original box, instructions, tools and a display case with fitted track.Condition Report: The locomotive is in very good condition and has never been steamed.It has come in from a deceased estate. A fine original boardroom model of T.S.M.V 'Fingal', displayed in original glazed case on stand with engraved brass plaque Built by Blythswood Shipbuilders Co. Ltd. Glasgow for The Commissioners of Northern Lighthouses. Edinburgh. The model finely finished with detailing including wheel house, lifeboats, railings and masks with rigging.* Fingal was commissioned by the Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) in 1963 and was the last ship to be built by the Blythswood Shipbuilding Company in Glasgow. Registered in Leith, she was stationed for 30 years in Oban and then for 6 years in Stromness, ferrying lighthouse keepers, essential supplies and maintenance staff to lighthouses, as well as undertaking repairs to navigational aids throughout the West Coast and the North of Scotland. Fingal retired from NLB service in 2000. The name Fingal is believed to pay homage to the King of the Morven (Argyll) in ancient Caledonia during the 3rd century.Fingal's duties included bringing equipment of the utmost importance to some of Scotland's most far-off lighthouses. She was one of three vessels responsible for the Scottish coast and when lighthouse keepers saw Fingal on the horizon, it meant their three week posting was over and that replacement lighthouse keepers and vital supplies were on the way.Condition Report: Display cabinet 140cm long by 39cm wideThe model itself is approximately 115cm longCondition Report Disclaimer

(d.1840) for Raith House, Kirkcaldy, Fife and by descent. Christie's, Important English Furniture and Carpets, 6th July 2000, lot 82, sold for £23,500 (incl. fees). Sotheby's, the Christopher Hodsoll Collection, 29th October 2002, lot 171, sold for £26,290 (incl. fees). Catalogue Note This pier mirror was supplied for the Drawing Room at Raith House by George Bullock to hang above a matching console cabinet with a Mona marble top as part of a 'pier-set'. It was listed in the 1895 'Inventory of the Mansion House of Raith, Kircaldy', p.46, by Alexander Dowell as a 'Rosewood and brass inlaid console cabinet, serpentine marble top, with large mirror above'. Robert Ferguson, M.P. for Fife and his new wife, the former Countess of Elgin, employed Bullock to transform their villa in the most fashionable antique taste. The linked foliate brass pattern on this mirror can be found on other items of Bullock furniture, including on the frieze of a pair of cabinets in the collection of the Duke Abercorn at Barons Court.

Catalogue Note Robert James was working in Bristol between 1784 and 1831. He was recorded as trading as a cabinet maker in Terill Street during the 1790s. In 1818 he was declared bankrupt but by 1821 he was advertising himself as a 'Manufacturer of the Beautiful Polyanthus Wood' and in 1822 he received a Royal patent and subsequently described himself as 'Manufacturer in British Woods to his Majesty'.
