A RARE JAPANESE TENMOKU AND BLUE AND WHITE DISH EDO PERIOD, C.1660-70 The shaped dish decorated with an elegant design of snow-covered banded hedges, the upper section in mottled chocolate-brown tenmoku glaze and the fences below rendered in underglaze blue, with old kintsugi gold lacquer repairs, a flattened rim and raised on a short foot, 15.5cm. Provenance: purchased from Richard Barker Fine Art. Exhibited: Asahi Shimbun, Ko-Imari Porcelain, Daimaru Kyoto, November 1992, and illustrated in the catalogue p.113, pl.131. The exhibition toured other Daimaru stores in Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo in 1993. Cf. A RARE JAPANESE BLUE AND WHITE MOULDED DISH (MUKOZUKE) EDO PERIOD, C.1655-80 With a foliate rim, the well decorated with three cranes and flowers in underglaze blue, the birds moulded in low relief, with gintsugi silver lacquer repair, raised on a short foot and the reverse with two sprays of flowers and spiralling tendrils, the base with a paper collection label for the Tryhorn Collection, 14cm. Provenance: formerly the Tryhorn Collection. Donald Tryhorn (1942-2007) of Kingsbridge (Devon) collected a large number of 18th and 19th century European ceramics including examples of Bow, Bristol, Plymouth, Chantilly and St Cloud porcelain, with a particular focus on Kakiemon wares. His collection also featured early Japanese pieces such as this one. Cf. The watch proposed is in stunning condition with a rare salmon dial characterized by a natural patina. The steel case with olive-shaped pushers stands out for being a first series, cause the subsequent production differed in the adoption of rectangular pushers and more concave and close lugs.

Produced in France from 1930 to the 1950's figures include- man sowing seed, man scything, man with wheelbarrow, lady with pitchfork, man sharpening a scythe, man with hay fork, lady with small haybale, lady sowing wheat, man drinking from flagon and elderly gent with staff and flagon. Innen vier Schalen (mit dem Fuß fünf). Der Hals ist mit reliefierten, stilisierten Lotusblüten verziert. Geschwungener Henkel mit zwei Schwanenköpfen an den Enden. Unterseite und die Innenschalen mit ungedeuteter Punzierung. Ungemarkt. Höhe 25 cm (mit Henkel) bzw. 23 cm (Innengefäß mit Henkel), Gesamtgewicht 1856,6 g.Das Gefäß dient wahrscheinlich als Wasserbehältnis für das Puja-Ritual, ein täglich praktiziertes Ritual, das zu den wichtigsten Bestandteilen des religiösen Alltags im Hinduismus gehört. The round, openwork base in the form of foliage with a broad, flaring rim. Bellied walls, the vessel opening up the middle. Four bowls on the inside (five including the base). The neck embellished with stylised lotus blossoms in relief. Curved handle, terminating in two swan's heads. The underside and the inner bowls stamped with an unknown mark. Unmarked. Height 25 cm (including handle) and 23 cm (inner receptacle with handle), total weight 1856.6 g.The vessel was probably used as a water container for the puja ritual, a daily devotional homage that is one of the most important parts of the religious routine in Hinduism. Steiff-Teddybär, 1926 Steiff-Bär, um 1926, blondes Mohair, Glasaugen und Buckel, ausdrucksstarkes Gesicht, langgezogenes "f" im Knopf, minimale Reste der Fahne, schwarz-braune Nasenbestickung und Filz-Tatzen, Körper mit Holzwolle. Kopf, Arme und Beine beweglich/Scheibengelenke, Höhe ca. 32 cm. Teils am Körper kleinere Fehlstellen, sonst insgesamt guter Zustand mit Spiel- und Altersspuren. Der in der Januar-2022-Auktion A91 bei uns versteigerte Teddy war 1926 ein Weihnachtsgeschenk. Dem beschenkten Kind ist damals in den Weihnachtstagen der Teddy verloren gegangen, die Eltern kauften den gleichen nochmals und nach einigen Wochen tauchte der erste wieder auf. Nun kommt der zweite zur Versteigerung. Schöne Größe, selten. The teddy bear sold in our January 2022 Auction A91 was a Christmas present in 1926. Unfortunately, the child lost the toy and the parents decided to buy the same model a second time. Illyrischer Bronzehelm, Typ III B, Griechenland, 5. Jhdt. v. Chr. Aus einem Stück getriebener Helm eines griechischen Hopliten mit schöner grüner Patina. Halbkugelige Kalotte mit trapezoidem Gesichtsausschnitt und nach unten gezogenem Nackenschutz, dessen Rand horizontal nach außen gestellt ist. Zwischen Nackenschutz und festem Wangenschutz ein spitzwinkliger Zwickel. Die tief nach unten gezogenen Wangenschützer hinten auswärts gewölbt und vorne minimal ausgezogen. Über die Kalotte hinweg eine leicht erhöhte und seitlich durch zwei Grate begrenzte Bahn für den Helmbusch. Bemerkenswert sind die selten erhaltene hintere Öse und ein Niet auf der Stirn, jeweils mittig unterhalb des Endes der Bahn, die zur Verzurrung des Helmbusches dienten. Im vorderen Zwickel der Wangenschützer ein Loch zur Verschnürung des aufgesetzten Helms (links original, rechts ergänzt). Rund um die gesamte Helmkante eine Borte aus punzierten Pseudonieten. Oberhalb der Ecke des linken Wangenschutzes eine antike Reparatur mit zwei aufgenieteten Blechstreifen. Die Kanten der Wangenschützer partiell ausgebrochen, nur am linken Wangenschutz ergänzt. Weit über 95 % originale metallische Substanz. Brüche im unteren Teil der Wangenschützer und Risse im Helm fachmännisch stabilisiert. Eindrucksvoller Helm mit selten erhaltenen technischen Details. The helmet worn by a Greek Hoplite, forged in one piece, with a beautiful green patina. Hemispherical skull with trapezoidal face opening, the neck guard extending downwards, the edge struck horizontally outwards. An acute-angled cutout between the neck guard and the fixed cheek protectors. The cheek protectors extending deeply downwards, domed outwards at the back and flaring marginally at the front. A slightly raised channel for the crest, bordered by two ridges at the side, running over the top of the skull. Worthy of special mention are the rare posterior eyelet and the rivet on the forehead, each fixed in the middle under the end of the channel, which were used to fasten the crest. A perforation at the front corner of the cheek guards to fasten the helmet when worn (original on the left, reconstructed on the right). A border of punched pseudo-rivets around the edge of the helmet. An antique repair with two riveted sheet metal strips above the corner of the left cheek protector. Awarded both a silver and a gold medal, the Miklashevsky Manufactory was popular with collectors. The quality of the products was comparable to that produced by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, however the Manufactory only existed for 20 years. Standring auf schmalem Boden, von dort aus leicht nach außen gewölbte, konische Wand mit weiter Mündung. Seichte Drehrillen auf der Wand innen und außen erkennbar. Mit Ausnahme von Boden und Standring, welche die hell- bis dunkelbraune Ware erkennen lassen, innen und außen schwarz glasiert. Außen mit grauen Einsprengseln, die Schildpatt imitieren. Innen graue Malerei mit komplexem Rankenwerk an drei Hauptzweigen, inspiriert durch Tixi-Lack-Muster. Geringfügige Abnutzungsspuren, sonst keine Schäden und intakt. Höhe 6,5 cm. * DOROTHY JOHNSTONE ARSA (SCOTTISH 1892 - 1980), BOUQUET IN AN ITALIAN JAR oil on canvas, signed and dated 1978, titled verso image size 62cm x 46cm, overall size 77cm x 62cm Framed and under glass. Label verso: Royal Scottish Academy Exhibition 1978. Note: Dorothy Johnstone was a pioneer of women’s art in the early 20th century; she was the star student at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1912. Not long after the new College was created out of the old Trustees Academy. Johnstone was clearly aware of contemporary developments in Paris, and certainly, the College wasn't cut off from artistic European trends. Her older contemporaries in Edinburgh included the Scottish Colourists Peploe and Cadell. Although their example might have influenced her work, in reality, it was a woman artist who seemed to liberate both her style and palette, Laura Knight exhibited eleven pictures at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1916. Significantly too she had already shown a picture there in 1911 when Johnstone was still a student. It was called On the Rocks, a title that could fit several of Knight's marvellous paintings from that time of girls, rocks and the sea on the Cornish coast. The artist's seaside paintings were particularly vivid. For instance, A Dark Pool, housed in the Laing Art Gallery, depicts a girl in a bright orange dress standing beneath a vast blue sky and sea. When it came to colour, Knight acknowledged the impact of the Scottish artist Charles Mackie (1862–1920). Through his friendship with Paul Sérusier, the artist had close links to the French painters working alongside Gauguin at the turn of the century. Johnstone has works in many major public collections and her work is rare to the market.

Ca. 1400 ADComposed of three iron plates riveted together, this helm enclosed the wearer's head. The vision was provided by a ridged, horizontal sight between the eyes for better protection. The cross-shaped hole close to the bottom edge allowed the helm to be secured to the wearer's belt or body armour by a toggled guard-chain. There are few examples still existing in collections and museums making this great helm helmet a rare and important object. This helmet was possibly crafted at large expense, for someone of importance. Die besonders hochwertige Ausführung der Uhr spricht dafür, dass diese Uhr eine Auftragsarbeit für einen betuchten arabischen Kunden war. Nur äußerst selten besteht der Schmucksteinbesatz dieser Uhren aus echten Diamanten und Smaragden.

Karossenuhr: rare, kleine Kutschenuhr/Reiseuhr für den chinesischen Markt, mit Zentralsekunde, ca. 1775: Transportgehäuse ca. 16 × 13 × 8cm, Holz, verglast, oben aufklappbar, Uhr mit Doppelgehäuse, Schutzgehäuse Holz, Hauptgehäuse Silber mit einem Durchmesser ca. 83mm, ca.333g, im Gehäuserand ein Hebel zum Anhalten der Zentralsekunde und ein weiterer Hebel zum Öffnen der Aufzugsöffnung, Gehäuse nummeriert 7761/4582, Spindelwerk mit feiner Verzierung, signiert J. L. Dupuis, Amsterdam, identisch mit der Signatur auf dem sehr gut erhaltenen Emaillezifferblatt, ausgefallene Goldzeiger, Zentralsekunde, sehr guter Zustand, funktionstüchtig, äußerst selten in dieser Erhaltung mit beiden Transportboxen. Jean Laurent Dupuis, Hugenotte, tätig in Paris und Amsterdam war registrierter Meister ab 1772. Diese Uhren waren die ersten Uhren, die für den chinesischen Markt gefertigt wurden.
Taschenuhr: extrem rare, frühe Lepine mit Zentralsekunde und Repetition, vermutlich aus dem Umfeld Breguet's, signiert Decombaz No.4812, ca. 1800: Ca. Ø57mm, ca. 142g, 18K Gold, Mittelteil rändiert, Gehäusenummer 4812, Werksnummer ebenfalls 4812 und dazu 1713, Staubdeckel bezeichnet "Repassee par Breguet", ungewöhnliches Lepine-Kaliber mit Zylinderhemmung und Viertelstunden-Repetition sowie seltener Zentralsekunde, signiertes Emaillezifferblatt, ausgesprochen schöne Zeiger aus gebläutem Stahl und Gold, funktionstüchtig, Zifferblatt mit Mängeln im Randbereich, hochinteressante Taschenuhr. Es ist bekannt, das Decombaz mit Breguet zusammenarbeitete und auch u.a. Werke für Breguet fertigte. Das Nummernsystem der hier vorliegenden Uhr stimmt allerdings nicht mit den Breguet-Archiven überein. Es handelt sich also nicht um eine Uhr aus den Werkstätten Breguet's, möglicherweise aber aus seinem Umfeld. Die Kombination aus Repetition und Zentralsekunde bei einem Lepine-Kaliber ist sehr selten.
