The “B” punched under the date is identical to that found on numerous 18th Century tokens, including many rare and of the highest quality. It is almost certainly the initial of an important collector but the owner remains a mystery.

BRITISH 18th CENTURY TOKENS, John Harvey, Copper Halfpenny, 1792, obv shield of arms of the City of Norwich, 1792 arranged around the shield, plain shield, no tuft on the middle of the lion’s tail, the 2 of the date on a line with the lower loop-hole, rev man working in a loom, the spokes on the wheel align horizontally and vertically, the top spoke at 12 o’clock, the loop forms an irregular curve, edge BIRMINGHAM REDRUTH & SWANSEA and planetary symbols (D&H Norfolk 43, edge unlisted; noted as D&H Norfolk 43b).
