FOWKE around, edge plain (Pye p.18, 8; Atkins p.67, 2; D&H Leicestershire 2). Small “B” punched under the date, otherwise nearly mint state and bronzed, very rare, only 18 struck in copper. The “B” punched under the date is identical to that found on numerous 18th Century tokens, including many rare and of the highest quality. It is almost certainly the initial of an important collector but the owner remains a mystery.
