An extremely rare and important Minton Maiolica game tureen and stand, the cover modelled as a boars head in Maiolica glazes with matching base and oval shaped stand, modelled in relief with twigs, the handle of a sword and quiver of arrows. The stand is 54cm long and tureen 28cm high with impressed factory mark, diamond registration mark for 1877 and a Minton date cipher. NOTE: Very few examples of this tureen were either made or have survived intact with original stand. An example from the Porter collection was sold in the United States by the Strawser Auction Group in June 2022 and a further example is in The Powerhouse Museum in Australiaminor chips to cover and tureen base the stand with section of rim (3cm approx) broken and re-stuck also end of the quiver of arrows broekn and re-stuck
