Pitcher with handle Art Nouveau DAUM-Nancy. France, ca.1900.Blown and enamelled glass.Curious and rare Art Nouveau Daum-Nancy jug, in cameo blown glass with black enamelled decoration of Dutch lake landscape with boats and mills.Signed on the reverse "Daum Nancy" and cross of Lorraine.Similar piece published in "Daum" by Galeria Katharina Buettiker, page 133.Provenance: Private Spanish collection, formed between 1970 and 2010.The stopper could be from a later period. Good preservation. Normal wear and tear due to use and the passage of time.Measurements: 26.5 cm (height) x 14 cm (largest diameter). The Daum manufacture was founded at the end of the 19th century by Augustin Daum (1853-1909) from a small family glassworks in Nancy. He was joined by his brother Antonin (1864-1931), and the Daum workshops soon became a meeting and training place for many young artists, who gave impetus to the Art Nouveau style in Nancy. At first they made ordinary glass, but in 1891 they decided to open a decorative workshop and to embark on artistic production, probably as a result of the success of Émile Gallé (1846-1904) at the 1889 Exhibition. Eventually, Daum had a factory with more than three hundred employees and a wide range of artistic production. During the First World War, the factory closed, but resumed production after the war, adapting to the change in aesthetics and leaving behind the modernism of its first period. During the Art Nouveau period, most of Daum's pieces were made of acid-etched cameo glass, but with the new Art Deco style, new techniques and decorative styles were investigated.

Hardeep Pandhal Tolkien Artist, 2022 Ink and Watercolour on Paper Signed on Verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About   Inspired by actual events, Hardeep Pandhal works with extremely rare images and voices to transform feelings of disinheritance and disaffection into generative spaces that bolster interdependence and self-belief. Applying practices of associative thinking, his research-led artworks exhibit syncretic strains of post-brown weirdness. Across media, his works are imbued with acerbity and playful complexity, at once confrontational and reflective.   Education   2013 MFA. The Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow 2007 BA (Hons) Fine Art. Leeds Beckett University, Leeds 2004 Foundation Diploma. Birmingham City University, Birmingham   Select Exhibitions/Awards   Paul Hamlyn Awards for Artists   Gallery Representation   Jhaveri Contemporary   Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork   The work is associated with an ongoing graphic Bildungsroman, which began in the mode of a sword and sorcery adventure based on reality, telling the story of a brown man on a collective quest to see a performance by a Tolkien-inspired black metal band. This story culminated in a battle between the brown man's party and a group of black metal fans, climaxing with "tentative stomps to the head" of the brown protagonist. This moment, and its retelling, enabled the artist Hardeep Pandhal to both enter and sense himself entering what he calls MIDIevil states of being, states in which rare and honest parallel thoughts are manifested in images and sounds. The wider project that Tolkien Artist belongs to is concerned with detailing the causes and effects of becoming MIDIevil.   You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. Caleb Weintraub Feathering the Nest, 2022 Gouache and Acrylic on Paper Signed on Verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About   Caleb Weintraub lives and works in Indiana where he teaches painting and drawing at Indiana University in Bloomington. His work was featured in a 2022 Midwest Issue of New American Paintings. In February 2022 he was invited to present thoughts on artistic lineage and influence on Clubhouse's ArtClub. This year Weintraub received a grant to complete a project that integrates plein air oil painting and augmented reality. He describes painting as a means of synthesizing memory and imagination to uncover hidden truths about our experiences and our world.   Education   Master of Fine Arts degree from University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University School for the Arts   Select Exhibitions/Awards   Shimmer, Leonhardt Galleries, Stockbridge, LA Towards a More Beautiful Oblivion, Fredericks & Freiser, New York, NY Link.NYC, curated by SaveArtSpace, New York, NY Alternate Current, Herrett Center for Arts and Science, Twin Falls, ID State of Nature, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis, IN Untameable Magic: Allegories of Nature and Culture, Zolla/Lieberman Gallery, Chicago, IL Technicolor Constellations, Rockford Museum of Art, Rockford, IL Seamless, Stedman Gallery, Rutgers University, Camden, NJ Spectrum Dynamic II, International Museum of Art and Science, McAllen, TX Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art, Providence, RI The Herrett Center for Arts and Science, Twin Falls, Idaho Unplain Air, CAHI, Indiana University Genesis Grant, Sevens Foundation Individual Research Award, Institute for Advanced Study, Indiana University for Undergraduate Education, Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award, Indiana University Bloomington, IN New Frontiers Grant, Lilly Foundation   Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork   I have always lived in small towns and suburbs. I encounter birds ever day. Scarlet tanagers are a rare sight though. Because they are rare where I live and because they are brightly colored, they represent something special, mysterious, comical, but also absurdly beautiful. When a different species of bird is removed from its habitat it may swap out the egg of a Scarlet Tanager with one of its own. Unable to tell the difference between its own offspring and the imposter, the unwitting tanager will raise the outsider with the rest of its brood. Although my interpretation of this behavior is oversimplified, I choose to see this conduct as a metaphor for indiscriminate care. When the red bird appears in my paintings it represents longing, hope, and tolerance. In my work everyone is wounded. Everyone carries on.
