1st Canadian Tank Brigade WW2 cloth formation sign. A fine rare first pattern. White mountain goat embroidered on a khaki rectangle. VGC Formed 4/2/1941; comprised Ontario Regt, Three Rivers Regt and Calgary Regt. Served Dieppe, Sicily, Italy, and Northwest Europe. Redesignated 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade August 1943.
South Africa. Robert’s Horse rare Boer War gilt slouch hat badge. Fretted curved scroll ‘ROBERTS’ over die-stamped running horse. Loops VGC Raised originally as Warren’s Horse in 1899, redesignated Roberts Horse in January 1900r. Famous for their action at Sannah’s Post. Disbanded January 1902.

Sir Peter Blake (b.1932)Side-showThe rare and important set of five wood-engravings, 1974-78, each signed and numbered from the edition of 100 in pencil, on thin laid Japan paper, printed at White Ink Studio, published by Waddington Graphics, London, the full sheets, each sheet 265 x 210mm (10 ½ x 8 ¼in) (unframed) (5) Peter Blake's fascination with wrestling and side-show attractions is well documented, and this important early set of wood-engravings is one of the few sets of prints which illustrates his fondness for the genre. The five works are based on early side-show "freak" photographs and were painstakingly engraved by Blake, the experience in producing the set was extremely taxing on the artist and aside from a single work included in the miniature print portfolio in 1973, it is the only time the artist used this medium.
