Exceedingly Rare WW2 1942 S.O.E Type A MkII Suitcase Radio, being a complete example housed in the original blue leather suitcase. The radio retains the original model plaque with serial number “MC 3036”. Some paint flaking and loss to sections of the radio. Complete with all the original fittings and attachments. The set is in three parts. Generally very good condition The Type A MkII was the first set produced by the Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) in October 1942.The Type A MkII operated on the 3-9 megacycles range on two wavebands. These early sets were the first to be issued to S.O.E agents that were dropped into occupied enemy territories. They were very heavy and as a result they were soon replaced by the Type III suitcase radio, due to the short period and relatively small manufacturing numbers these radio transmitter sets are extremely rare. This example was recently discovered in France, indicating that this was most likely an example delivered to a member of the French resistance network.

RARE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION SHROPSHIRE COALBROOKDALE TOKEN copper half penny token issued in Coalbrookdale, Shropshire in 1792, obverse bearing a detailed view of the iron bridge with a sailing ship passing underneath, 'IRON BRIDGE AT COALBROOK DALE. 1792', 'ERECTED ANNO 1779. SPAN 100 FEET'. The reverse depicts a man working at a barge-lifting machine and carries the legend 'INCLINED PLANE AT KETLEY. 1789', there is also an inscription on the edge 'PAYABLE AT COALBROOK-DALE AND KETLEY', both obverse and reverse in very detailed condition for age, 3cm in diameter; together with three other late 18th century tokens, including a London J. Palmer Esq Mail Coach halfpenny, a London Lad Lane Mail Coach halfpenny and a Mancester halfpenny dated 1793, each 3cm in diameter (4) Note: The Coalbrookdale Token is listed in the official listings of tokens as 'Scarce'. It was issued by one of the greatest companies in the development of the Industrial Revolution in Shropshire, Reynolds & Co., trading as the Coalbrook-Dale Iron Company with establishments at Coalbrook-Dale and Ketley. The inclusion of the Ketley inclined plain is also significant as this was an invention of Reynolds in order to combat the very steep inclines of the area now known as Telford, which made it impossible to provide locks on the various industrial canals which were being built to carry coal and finished goods. The Ketley was the first such invention in Britain. The last surviving of the great Shropshire incline planes, at Hay, near Ironbridge is now partially restored and preserved at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum. The Ketley Inclined plain has long disappeared under the modern housing of Telford, though remnants of the Ketley canal can still be found
