Their statement 'These were also issued coated with similor [an alloy of copper and zinc] with a wavy circle of the metal left plain' implies that it refers to copper specimens, but the evidence from the present examples is that the wavy circle (of whatever alloy) was added to brass pieces. The circle itself is in a slightly different position on the three examples in this and the next lot.

GEORGE WALLINGTON QUINTET - THE NEW YORK SCENE - Extremely rare original UK Esquire release featuring George Wallington, who found his fortune as a young man playing alongside Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Pettiford on 52nd Street... The LP (32-132) is in Ex condition with a few light surface marks. These are by no means of a heavier nature, and this is a clean example. PRLP 8207 A +B matrix with 'RVG' in the outer on both sides. The front laminated flipback sleeve is in Ex condition with a little wear to the laminate.

HAROLD ASHBY - BORN TO SWING - Introducing the compulsive tenor saxophone of 'Smilin' Jack' Harold Ashby indeed with this ridiculously rare original 1960 album (Columbia Lansdowne Series 33SX 1257). The record is in sublime Ex+ condition. There are perhaps just one or two extremely faint and wispy markings of the lightest nature, the distinct lack of any kind of spindle markings on the brilliantly sharp green/gold labels indicate this record has been played sparingly. The sleeve is in Ex condition - a very clean front, the reverse has some light ringwear and a little staining. Don't miss out on this consistently firm, imaginative and swingin' LP.

SONNY STITT, BUD POWELL & J J JOHNSON - A rare original US (mono) pressing of this 1956 release on Prestige (PRLP 7024). With '446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C' address on deep groove labels. The record is in VG condition with surface marks to both sides with certainly no heavier scratches to note. The vibrant fireworks yellow and black labels are nice and clean. The 'Inc., 446 West 50th Street, New York 19, N.Y' sleeve is in G+ condition with some peeling on the top left corner (front) where a price sticker looks to have been partly removed. Otherwise, there is general edgewear and track listings in pen on the reverse.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE BLUES VOLUME ONE - BLUE HORIZON -The electrifying, superb and insanely rare 2nd Blue Horizon release (VER LP/124). With offerings from Floyd Jones, The Howlin' Wolf, Eddie Hope and West Texas Slim this really is the king of all compilations! The record is in outlandish Ex+ condition - barely looking played there are very few markings to the playing surface indeed. The labels are bright, sharp and crisp. MATRIX: VER LP 124 and 125. The sleeve is in VG+ condition with a couple of light creases and some minor ringwear.

Cont. full mottled calf, single gilt fillet borders, with oval T.C.D. prize stamp in gilt on both covers, profusely tooled gilt spines in panels,mor. labels (1 spine dam. at base), otherwise very good set.* With the original rare early T.C.D. prize bookplate issued to Arthur Brooke in 1744, a descendant of Arthur Brooke, later became Prime Minister of Northern Ireland.
