An unusual golden moonstone single stone ring, the large circular moonstone cabochon of golden orange hue rub over set to a textured satinised mount and shank, stamped ‘750’ The rare golden orange variety of moonstone is from the orthoclase variety of feldspars, and is coloured by iron impurities, such as the example offered here. It is found in Madagascar, but is much rarer than its bluish grey cousin, commonly known as moonstone. It is often confused with a man made material marketed as sunstone, but which bares little resemblance to the delicate schiller and reflective properties of the natural stone.
