A fine quality cabinetmakers lockable pine chest lined in mahogany measuring 37" x 25" x 26"h. dated in pencil 1858, with two banks of 18 dovetailed drawers or dummy drawers with brass pulls over other compartments for moulding planes etc. The drawers and tops decorated with satinwood cross banding and ebony, boxwood stringing, the two banks unusually with hinged brass lifting handles. The flame mahogany lid interior decorated to match the interior of the chest, a crack in the lid requires some restoration (probably caused by being closed onto the open lifting handle) and a few other minor problems, it is a rare occurrence to find a quality chest, this one could be a beauty G
