ROY OF THE ROVERS-TREVILLION-ORIGINALS In 1963, top British artist, Paul Trevillion received an emergency phone call from Fleetway the publishers of Tiger magazine asking if he could please help out and draw a Roy of the Rovers story. Despite misgivings Paul helped them out and this Lot is the original Paul Trevillion drawings for the first week of the story which appeared in Tiger issue dated 13th April 1963. The story covered the front page, the first inside page and half of page three. The original drawings for all three pages are here together with the issue of Tiger showing the drawings as they appeared when published. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Roy of the Rovers history drawn by the best Sports Artist that Britain has ever had the good fortune to produce. Fleetway did not allow their artists to sign the artwork but if you look carefully you will find a signature inside one of the boxes which survived editing and made it into the published issue. Perhaps of interest to those eagle-eyes amongst you is that there are over 50 changes between the original artwork and the published artwork, see how many you can find knowing that you are looking at original Roy of the Rovers artwork and the only story drawn by Paul Trevillion. Very good
