L'Epee Fondee an 1839, c.1980/90, a rare gilt brass limited edition brass gilded carrousel type tourbillon Gorge cased carriage clock, the white enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic five-minute numerals, alarm setting, date and days of the week dials below, aperture for the moon phases with lunar calendar, blued steel Breguet hands, the signed movement numbered 79, striking on a gong, the case numbered 79, 14 x 9.5 x 8cm, key. When this model was first produced L?Epée made the following statement: L?Epée has decided to return to one of the firm?s key areas of expertise that has made the company famous over the years by designing and developing one of the complications most sought-after by connoisseurs: a ?Carrousel? type tourbillon. In this type of complication, the balance, the spring and the escapement are housed within a carriage of which the rotation axis coincides with the centre of the escapement and performs one complete turn per minute. This finely tuned carriage contains a poising weight and its rotation is driven by the barrel via a classic gear train. Condition report, overall very good condition, good case, good dial, good glass, the working movements keeps time, all features appear to work but not guaranteed. Appears original key.

Condition - a hairline crack runs down the inside of one of the cups and there is a small chip on the outside rim but doesn't detract from the true beauty of this tea set. WURFFLEIN PHILADA', with remains of browning. Breech-plate and tang with floral engravings. Forward spring lock engraved with flowers, en suite with the dog, and signed 'J. WURFFLEIN PHILADA'. Working mechanism. Briarwood half stock (two veins on the fore-end) with checkered handle on the right side and large cheek piece. White metal mounts. Trigger guard, butt plate with two tangs, both with floral engravings. Working trigger and set trigger. A small tubular peep sight around the base. Metal-tipped wooden ramrod and base for the cartridge extractor. Complete with grip disk-shaped pommel made of briarwood with slightly convex faces and iron baluster neck with remains of bluing. Complete with its original and very rare, iron and brass muzzle mount which can be inserted with the special pins, and with a brass tool for the bullet. 'Der Neue Stöckel' reports John Wurfflein documented in Philadelphia in 1855 - 1861 (vol. 2 page 1413). length 122,5 cm.

Interesting and very rare hilt with two cartouches on the sides of the quillon, other inscriptions on the flat mushroom-shaped pommel and remains of floral and geometric silver decorations. Some legible inscriptions 'QUTB JAMCHID SHAH' (of the Qutb Shari dynasty), date '950' (de L'Hégire = 1543 JC), 'Liyant Taj Allah' and 'Bachir Yazdan'. Wooden scabbard with remains of leather covering. The inscriptions may be Persian and written with Arabic characters. Jamsheed Quli Qutb Shah was the second ruler of the Golconda sultananth of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (1512 - 1689). The date 1543 corresponds with Jamsheed Quli Qutb Shah's accession to the throne. length 90.2 cm.

W. MORTIMER & Co. LONDON ....' (the rest not legible) among trophies, the border framed with petals. The left side featuring a large lever and a double gate finely engraved with floral motifs. The lower part with trigger guard and circular opening engraved with petals, trophies and garlands.Most of the surface with rust damages. Wooden drop-shaped butt (small missing part). Octagonal, silver escutcheon at the back. Harvey Walklate Mortimer (1753-1819) is documented in London from 1780, and was a gunsmith at the court of King George III (1730-1820) in 1789. Harvey Walklate Mortimer was very inspired by the system that the Florentine gunsmith Lorenzoni invented more than hundred years before, so he created a small group of weapons that was based on this revolutionary system.A pistol from this exclusive series can be found at the Metropolitan Museum in New York (35.81.3a – f); it features the coat of arms of the famous Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758–1805), complete with its case with turn-off barrel and bullet mold.Interestingly, the pistol presented at the Metropolitan Museum and the one presented in our auction are missing a small piece of the butt in the same place (near the hammer), and that also the pistol attributed to Nelson is provided with an adjustable front sight, a very rare detail.For Harvey Walklate Mortimer see 'Der Neue Stöckel', Vol. II page 834. length 42.5 cm.

dating: circa 1880 - 1890 provenance: The Philippines, Morion-shaped helmet with bronze mounts, the central band worked in one piece, the top with the summit facing backwards, the sides richly perforated with floral motifs, two curved and smooth side bands, a row of flower-shaped rivets (three missing) at the base, the lateral parts lined with two buffalo-horn plates (Bubalus bubalis), brim with hemmed edge, the front with two plume-holders. Small missing parts and restorations. The armor consists of bronze plates held together by a brass mail with a simple ring-closure. The front part with two large plates provided with two hooks worked with engraved, bronze plates. Height: about 67 cm. An extremely rare ensemble, especially for the morion with horn sides. The piercing of the helmet and the quality of the armor indicate a high-rank owner. height morion 20.5 cm.

Extraordinary hunting carabine with innovative and great quality system and lock. The mechanics allowed to have many charges ready to be shot, thus granting a large advantage over other hunters.See a very similar weapon in 'One Hundred Great Guns', by Merrill Lindsay, 1968, page no. 114/115. This extraordinary Russel Aitken Collection carabine, too, has the same loading system, the same safety locks, and similar decorations inside the lock. The cock, too, seems to have the same safety lock system as this carabine. length 112 cm.

Receiver and mounts decorated en suite. Catalan-style wooden butt with checkered fore-end (a small missing part on one side of the lock); lower lever to open the barrel. The receiver with a cartouche featuring the monogram 'UC'. Horn-tipped, wooden ramrod. Rare. length 110 cm.
