The Organ Pipe Cactus (Stenocereus thurberi) is a unique and fascinating plant species found primarily in the Sonoran Desert of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Here's an overview of the Organ Pipe Cactus:1. Appearance and Habitat: The Organ Pipe Cactus is named for its distinctive cylindrical shape, resembling a series of organ pipes. It can grow to impressive heights, reaching up to 20 feet (6 meters) tall. The cactus typically has multiple stems that branch out from a central base, forming a cluster or "organ pipe" effect. It thrives in the arid desert regions, often found in rocky slopes and well-drained soils.2. Adaptations to Desert Life: The Organ Pipe Cactus has several adaptations that allow it to survive in harsh desert conditions. Its ribbed, columnar structure helps it to maximize water storage, while its thick, waxy skin reduces water loss through transpiration. The spines on the cactus provide shade and protect it from herbivores, and its shallow, widespread root system helps it efficiently capture water during rare rainfall events.3. Flowers and Fruits: The Organ Pipe Cactus produces beautiful, showy flowers that bloom at night, attracting pollinators like bats and moths. The flowers are typically white or pale yellow, and they open in late spring or early summer. The cactus also bears edible fruit, known as pitayas or "dragon fruits," which are oval-shaped and reddish-purple in color. These fruits are an important food source for desert wildlife.4. Ecological Importance: The Organ Pipe Cactus plays a crucial role in the desert ecosystem. It provides food and shelter for various animals, including birds, bats, insects, and desert rodents. Its flowers and fruits contribute to pollination and seed dispersal. Additionally, the cactus's dense cluster formation helps protect the desert soil from erosion, preventing loss of valuable topsoil in the arid environment.5. Conservation Status: The Organ Pipe Cactus is a protected species in many regions due to its vulnerability to habitat destruction and illegal harvesting. In some areas, it faces threats from urban development, agriculture, and climate change. Conservation efforts are focused on preserving its natural habitat and raising awareness about the importance of protecting this iconic desert plant. The Organ Pipe Cactus is not only a visually striking plant, but it also plays a vital role in the desert ecosystem. Its adaptations to the harsh desert environment, unique growth form, and ecological significance make it a fascinating and cherished species within the Sonoran Desert region.Measures 24 x 36.Mounted to linen.

A LHD Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ti Type 101 Reg No. DYE 331C1290ccChassis No. AR 221797Engine No. 25599Blue 4 door Saloon (Berlina). This car was imported from Italy and first registered in the UK in 1965, but the vehicle is pre 1965. The Guilietta range of cars were introduced in 1954, the first 4 door saloon appeared in 1955 and continued through to 1965. Alfa’s of this period were technically advanced, using a unitary body design featuring front suspension with control arms with coaxial springs and hydraulic dampers, rear solid axle with coil springs. The rear axle was located by a longitudinal link on each side, and by a wishbone-shaped arm linking the top of the aluminium differential housing to the chassis. The engine is a 1290cc all aluminium twin overhead camshaft design which in “Ti” specification produces 73 bhp at 6200 rpm and giving a quoted top speed of 96 mph. This LHD Alfa is believed to have been imported in around the early 2000’s, subsequently, the car went under a comprehensive rebuild by its engineer owner including a full body and mechanical restoration. The car was resprayed and interior refurbished. More recently, the twin cam engine has been rebuilt due to a cylinder head gasket failure. Starting promptly and running smoothly on inspection the car shows good oil pressure with no untoward mechanical noise. The paintwork is still in good condition but does have some small areas where the paint has been affected by being under a close fitting cover. Chrome work is generally very good with some small imperfections on the centre of the front bumper. Interior is in neat and standard order.A very rare car in the UK but with plenty of support from specialist suppliers here and abroad, this vehicle will please any classic enthusiast.

Start Price: EUR 220 Zustand: (3/3)View Camera Set with 5 Lenses, c. 1918-30Loeber, Dresden. Comprising two almost identical view cameras by the same manufacturer, 13 x 18 cm, with slot-in frame, green bellows with red corners, stable construction. 1) Camera with Loeber label, Loeber Universal Aplanat Extra Rapid Series A lens no. 19043, with attachable Thornton-Pickard shutter (working) and Zeiss Jena Tessar 4.5/13.5 cm lens no. 174485 in a brass mount that fits the thread. - 2) Camera without Loeber label, rare version with front standard that can be swiveled back and forth, without handle, with Zeiss Tessar 4.5/15 cm lens. - 3) Original additional plate board for two lenses: Zeiss Tessar 4.5/21 cm no. 276196, in a mount similar to that for aerial cameras, lens can be stopped down to aperture 9, and a Busch Leukar Anastigmat 30 cm no. 437509 (Dagor type), the front element engraved as a set lens 1:12 without focal length (approx. 62 cm). - And: 4) 3 matching double cassettes, some with sheet film inserts. - Note: The outfit of a part-time photographer who remained true to his first camera but extended his repertoire with the acquisition of an adjustable camera of the same type, perhaps to capture carnival events (an underexposed 13 x 18 cm negative served as a sheet film holder), hence the bright 21 cm Tessar. Start Price: EUR 220 Condition: (3/3)
