CHINOISERIE DRESSING MIRROR - Rare Original Chinoiserie Decorated Table Top Dressing Mirror, having original decoration and surface, with oval mirror supported by shaped arms, serpentine front case with two conforming drawers retaining original brass pulls, the interior of both drawers fitted with matching loose boxes, all raised on short carved feet, 29" (73.7 cm) tall, 20 1/2" (52.1 cm) x 12 1/2" (31.8 cm), overall crazing. Provenance: Owned by Thomas Poynton (1769-1835), married to Hope Brown. Sold by Sotheby`s, Property of the Goddard Family, Jan 22, 2005, lot 838. There was a photo of this item in the Thomas Poynton Ives house in Providence, RI, 1865.

RARE DESKTOP TELESCOPE - Boston Optical Works Tolles Brass Telescope, serial no 1, with original iron and mahogany tripod base, circa 1871, designed by the famous microscope maker Robert B. Tolles, who lists this in his catalog of that year (he made very few telescopes), Tolles began the company in 1867, died in 1883, the company existed into the 1890s, this first of the line has a 3" objective, 32 1/2" length, 19" leg to leg, the scope lifts off and the legs fold, very good, clean condition, discoloration to the original lacquer sealer on the brass shell.

PAIR ITALIAN TORCHIERES - Rare Pair of 17th c or earlier Italian Floor Pricket Torchieres in carved wood and gilt gesso, having lion`s paw feet in the front only of the tripod base, scaled and keyed plinth, foliate urn supporting tapered fluted column, crowned by foliate capitol with a beaded platform, the back of these were never finished, other than in the ochre gilding base, the back foot is uncarved, these probably stood either side of an altar, 39 1/4" tall, 9 1/2" at base, some losses, small replaced section of top edge beading, wonderful age patina.

RARE HAN DYNASTY SWORD BLADE IN DECORATED LACQUER BOX-The blade, unmounted, of bronze with a keen edge, bears archaic bird script characters inlaid in gold. It is sheathed in a wooden scabbard wrapped in lacquered silk strips. The domed lidded case is of wood, decorated in black and red lacquer with carved fluted ends and a grid patterned middle section bearing comma- shaped elements carved in low relief. The surface is decorated further with exquisitely painted linear designs extending along the sides and ends of the case. Sometimes referred to as a Spare Blade, this example would have been put into service to replace a blade damaged in battle. In a remarkable state of preservation. Blade length 26 1/2" (67.3 cm). Case dimensions: 5" (12.7 cm) tall x 29 1/4" (74.3 cm) long x 4" (10.2 cm) wide.

RARE CIVIL WAR ERA MARCHING BAND INSTRUMENT - Bass Helicon B flat Tuba in German Nickel Plated Brass, by Hall & Quinby of Boston, 1868, an immediate post-war version of an over the military shoulder marching horn that utilizes string activated rotary valves, the maker`s name engraved on the bell within a laurel wreath, roughly 38" x 28" with a 12 1/2" bell, bell is battered at top, separated at mouthpiece holder and dented, lacks mouthpiece, overall discoloration to finish. Rare in any condition, Hall & Quinby only existed from 1865-1870. Sold to benefit the Warren Historical Society.

18th C CHINESE RARE PORCELAIN DRAGON VASE Antique Chinese rare hand painted enameled Famille Noir porcelain dragon vase. Has tubular form with flared lip. Raised Chih Lung dragon spiraling around the vase. To the mouth of the dragon is a stalk with lingzhi mushroom. Qing Dynasty period. Measures 9 5/8" height x 5 3/8" diameter (24.4cm x 13.6cm). Total weight of 767 grams. Provenance: From an Important St. Louis Collection. Purchased from Rare Art, Inc., NY on 07/20/1999. Ex collection from Milwaukee Art Museum, accession/deaccession numbers B-149 and 131. Holds Zeiser Museum and Milwaukee Museum label to bottom.

IMPERIAL HERITAGE KANGXI PERIOD FAMILLE VERTE PLATE, DRESDEN COLLECTION. A Rare Imperial Chinese heritage Qing Dynasty Famille Verte plate. What makes this plate especially unusual, is that it bears an incised inventory mark (N48 I) from the Dresden collection, formed by Augustus the Strong, Kind of Poland and Elector of Saxony who lived from 1670 to 1733. Part of the collection was dispersed by auction early this century (See Soame Jenyns, "Later Chinese Porcelain"). Measures 11 3/8" diameter (28.8cm). Total weight of 594 grams. Hand painted enameled floral panels throughout. Bottom holds Kangxi (1662-1722) period artemesia leaf mark to bottom in double circles. For much of the Kangxi reign, the imperial reign mark was forbidden by Imperial edict to be used, and the artemesia leaf was a not uncommon substitute. Item 2225, Provenance: Christie`s December 1999.
