Believed to be extinct by 1912 but were re-discovered in 1988 by US scientists in Bhutan. A survey in 1995 revealed a herd of about 200 Shou Deer, the only viable population of this deer. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire the antlers of this highly endangered species.

A rare 4 piece alloy Tea Set of the airship R.38. Comprising a teapot and a hot water jug, each with a wooden handle and knob to lid. The bases are marked ‘R.38’ and ‘U.S.N. property’. Together with a jug and sugar bowl with integral handles, all 4 items marked on the side ‘Airship /R.38/August 1921’. GC some service wear illustrated on Plate 8. Note: The R.38 class was designed for Britain’s Royal Navy towards the end of World War I . Designed for long-range patrol duties over the North Sea, four airships were ordered by the Admiralty. Three of them were cancelled after the armistice was signed with Germany. Work on the R.38 continued after the United States Navy had agreed to purchase her. In 1921 she was the world’s largest airship. On 23 August 1921, in preparation for a final trial flight and delivery to Lakehurst, R.38 (US registration ZR-2) was destroyed by a structural failure over the city of Hull and crashed into the River Humber killing 44 of the 49 crew.

A rare Aluminium Control Wheel from the Helm off a British Airship. Probably a WW1 example, overall diameter 61cm, the cast centre bearing number 7332 and with tapered key hole. A rare soft leather covered writing case from the Graf Zeppelin. The cover decorated overall with fine stylised branches and filaments and embossed in gold with a depiction of the airship and `Graf Zeppelin` in the lower right hand corner. The lining of brown silk with crimson silk cards and tassels. GC some scuff marks to cover, illustrated on Plate 14.

Eastbound crossing from Lakehurst, New Jersey to Frankfort on Main, Germany June 23 1936. Staff Dr. Hugo Eckener (commander), Watch Officers Capt. M. Pruss Capt. A. Sammt, Mr. H. Bauer. Chief Engineer Mr. R. Sauter. Radio Officer. Mr. W. Speck. Mail and Sanitary Officer Mr. K. Schonherr. Chef Steward Mr. H. Kubis. Chef Mr. X Maier. Inside is the list of 56 passengers, including Lord Donegall, Rear Admiral John W. Greenslade U.S.N. Professor Robert A. Mac Lean, Captain Schultz-Heyn, etc. Printed on cream card with black lettering. GC for age, some wear to edges, illustrated on Plate 15.
A rare and possibly unique original Graf Zeppelin passenger ticket. Issued by the General Agent in Friedrichshafen ‘Hamburg-Amerika Linie’ dated 14 September 1934. This ticket No.7840 was issued Herr M. Delemer for passage between Friedrichshafen and Frankfurt. Nicely mounted in a glazed frame, 43cm x 32.5cm. VGC illustrated on Plate 16.
A rare and most interesting WW1 anti-Zeppelin aerial dart. With spring loaded steel tip which evidently pierces the fabric of the Zeppelin and at the same time activates an explosive charge in the steel body of the dart. Fitted with alloy fins. Overall length 19cm. GC some surface rusting, illustrated on Plate 24.
A rare pre WW1 Tape Measure in the form of a Zeppelin. Of sheet alloy and copper,85mm overall, side vanes to tail, 2 pairs of side propellers, the front pair acting as a winder for the tape which operates through a slot in the nose and is graduated to 1m on one side and 40” on the other. Near GC-VGC minor wear only. Illustrated.
