A rare silver novelty vesta case by Sampson Mordan, London 1886, in the form of a slender oval penknife with two blades, a propelling pencil and a suspension loop, one side with the engraving "H.F.D from", over a Coronet and above "A" and dated "April 1887", opening to reveal the compartment for vestas, striker along the back edge, 2¼in. (5.75cm.) long, weight 38g.

A rare Omega Workshops tin-glaze earthenware bowl probably thrown by Roger Fry at Poole Pottery, covered in a speckled and crazed oatmeal glaze impressed Omega symbol, handwritten label, chips to rim, 22cm. diam. Exhibited The handwritten label states this bowl was exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Omega Workshops exhibition in 1960. It is similar to several examples held in the V&A collection also attributed to Roger Fry (circ 248-1958), and thrown at Poole circa 1916.

The Borogove creature was inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice Through the Looking Glass published in 1871. This creature bears a stronger resemblance to the Mome raths described by Humpty Dumpty as 'a sort of green pig'.
A rare Poole Pottery Atlantis vase by Guy Sydenham, tapering pear shaped body, modelled with a stylised face, glazed in green, her exotic hair carved and matt glazed black, impressed Poole mark Guy Sydenham monogram, 32cm. high Literature British Art Pottery Woolley and Wallis Auctioneers, 30th November 2006, lot 971 for a comparable Poole Atlantis figural vase by Guy Sydenham which sold for £2500. It is believed to be one of six such vases produced.
WW2 RAF Mk IVB Flying Goggles, fine pair of this type flying goggle with all of the original finish remaining to the metal frames, original lenses still in place. Rare flip down sun visor shields still present. Rubber pads behind the metal work and cushioned leather nose piece. Complete with the original brown leather strap which is stamped with crowned Air Ministry marking and stored reference number 22C/167. Set remain in very good condition.
WW2 North Africa Prisoner of War Medal and Paperwork Grouping with Ephemera of Waffen SS British Free Korps Division Interest, the grouping relates to the service of Arthur Charles Potts Queens Own Cameron Highlanders (Liverpool Scottish) later Royal Engineers. His campaign medals remain in the OHMS forwarding box and consist of 1939-45 star, Africa star and 1939-45 war medal. Accompanying the medals is a quantity of paperwork and ephemera relating to his wartime service and his time as a prisoner of war. Amongst the ephemera is the original printed information leaflet printed on the behalf of the newly formed Waffen SS division the British Free Korps to try and encourage British prisoners to join them in fighting against the Red Army on the Eastern Front. Other items in the grouping include his hand written diary, a hand drawn concert poster for a camp production, photographs of him and comrades, service and release book plus other items. Also accompanied by various cap badges and also his POW id tag amongst other items. A very interesting and complete grouping recording Potts wartime service. The leaflets produced by the British Free Korps are extremely rare as often they were ripped up by the prisoners so to find an original example is very historically interesting.
Rare WW2 Polish wz31 Pattern Steel Combat Helmet, an excellent example of the steel combat helmet worn by the Polish forces during the Invasion of Poland by the German armed forces in 1939. Helmet retains much of its original rough textured exterior combat paint finish. Interior of the helmet retains the original three pad leather liner and damaged leather chinstrap. Some surface rusting to the interior of the helmet and some paint loss to the exterior but overall an excellent example of a rare WW2 combat helmet.
Rare WW2 Russian Model 1936 (SSh-36) Steel Combat Helmet, the shell with its flared sides and top comb retains nearly all of its original field green combat paint finish to the exterior and interior. Complete with the later leather sweatband and cloth lining but the original early type leather chinstrap. These helmets were worn in the early part of the Second World War (Great Patriotic War) before being replaced by the more common SSh-39 and SSh-40 models. Very good example of this scarce WW2 combat helmet.
Royal Air Force Irvin Flying Jacket and Flying Helmet Grouping Attributed to New Zealand Battle of Britain Fighter Pilot, P/O Owen “Okey” Edward Lamb 151 Squadron, Later Killed in Action in North Africa with 73 Squadron, grouping consists of his original wool lined two panel back Irvin Flying Jacket. The jacket is named to the reverse under the collar in black ink “P/O OKEY LAMB”, zip cuffs and 9 vents under the armpits. Jacket has lower loops but the belt is missing. Tab for the collar fastener is still present. Jacket shows evidence of service wear and has some period field repairs. Accompanying the jacket is his original B-Type flying helmet with zipped ear cups and leather straps to the reverse. Interior of the helmet has the original Air Ministry size label and is also inked “OKEY LAMB” and “OKEY”. The helmet remains in very good condition showing just signs of light service wear. RCAF MK III Flying Goggles complete with the original strap with stamped store numbers 22C/13 and 1940. Goggles are complete with the original lenses and leather surround. The goggle strap is inked with the initials “O.L”. Born in Auckland, New Zealand on 10th May 1917. Early in 1939 he applied for an RAF short service commission and was provisionally accepted. He sailed for the UK on 6th May 1939 on RMS Rangitane. He commenced elementary flying training at 10 E&RFTS, Yatesbury and in late August moved to 2 FTS, Brize Norton. With his training completed Lamp was posted to 7 AGS, Newton Down in February 1940 for a gunnery course, after which he went to 6 OTU, Sutton Bridge and converted to the Hurricane fighter aircraft. On 13th April 1940 Lamb began a Specialist Armaments Officers Course at No1 Air Armaments School at Manby. He went to 5 OTU, Aston Down on August 31st for Hurricane refresher course and joined 151 Squadron in mid September, flying the Hurricane Fighter on sorties during the Battle of Britain. In November 1940 Lamb volunteered for overseas service and joined 73 Squadron at Debden. The Squadron embarked for the Middle East on HMS Furious on the 10th November 1940. On arrival in the Western Desert the Squadron was attached to 274 Squadron until January 1941 when 73 Squadron became operational on its own account. On 14th April 1941 the Luftwaffe mounted a heavy attack against Tobruk with a force of more than ninety bomber and fighter aircraft. On this day 73 Squadron was operating in the perimeter defences and were scrambled with the orders to engage the enemy. Pilot Officer Lamb failed to return from this sortie, his body was later found and buried in an isolated grave near the Tobruk-Bardia road. After the war Lamb’s remains were re-interred in the Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma Libya. A rare and fantastic grouping to “One of the Few” who defended England against the might of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain and later paid the ultimate sacrifice in combat. These were the actual items of flying clothing that Pilot Officer Lamb wore during the Battle of Britain.
Rare 4th Battalion Welsh Regiment 53rd Welsh Division 160 Infantry Brigade Canloan Officer Battle Dress Combination, being printed WELCH REGIMENT shoulder title, embroidered CANADA nationality shoulder title, woven 53rd division formation sign, three red felt brigade bars and 4th battalion printed formation sign. All mounted onto khaki backing.
Very Rare Great War 25th Battalion (Frontiersmen) City of London Royal Fusiliers Cap Badge, gilt brass fused grenade with 25 to the centre. Circular section to the flames with red enamel cross and enamel union flag with GOD GUARD THEE to the centre. Lower scroll with FRONTIERSMEN. Two lug fittings to the reverse. Traces of the gilt remains to the front of the badge.
WW2 Polish Cloth Formation Signs, consisting of embroidered 10th Dragoons formation sign, rare Welfare Officer in British Zone Germany, embroidered Army Volunteers from North America, embroidered volunteers in Air Force from France, 3x variations of Polish 2nd Corps and embroidered white Polish eagle on red shield. Rare WW2 Special Forces British Army Aid Group Formation Sign, being an embroidered scarlet and yellow pimpernel on dark navy blue cloth backing. Insignia appears to be in mint un-issued condition. British Army Aid Group (B.A.A.G) was formed by Major, later Lt Col, L T Ride, in China on 6th March 1942. Ride had escaped captivity from the Japanese and the idea of the unit was to aid prisoners of war and to help with escapes etc. The unit was disbanded 31st December 1945.
Rare WW2 “SOE” Hand Generator Battery Charger No2, for use with the B2 suitcase radio. Complete with its handle and housed in the original storage tin with webbing straps. Plaque to the side of the charger with “BATTERY CHARGER No2 OUTPUT 7V 3A AT 100 RPM ON DRIVING HANDLE SERIAL No LH3892”. Appears to be in good condition.
Rare Royal Artillery Steel Helmet With Cruise Visor, standard pattern British steel helmet with much of the original field combat paint finish, to one side is the divided red and blue diamond indicating service with the Royal Artillery. Fitted to the front of the helmet brim is the rare pull down face protection visor with pierced viewing sections. The helmet is complete with its original 1954 dated liner and webbing chinstrap. These helmets were worn by Royal Artillery troops involved in bomb disposal or dealing with potential shrapnel. Very rare item of British Military headdress.
Scarce 38th Foot (1st Staffordshire Regiment) Albert Pattern Shako Plate circa 1844-55, fine gilt metal Victorian crowned eight pointed star with battle honours to the main points of the star. Laurel wreath set to the centre with further battle honours and Staffordshire knot to the bottom. Centre of the plate is strap with regimental details “1st STAFFORDSHIRE” and gilt 38 to the centre. Two lug fittings on the reverse and two wire fittings to the crown. The crown would appear to have been cleaned at one time or possibly repaired. A rare and desirable early shako plate.
Very Rare WW2 D-Day Landings Amphibious Tank Crews Escape Apparatus (ATEA), mint un-issued example of the special pattern equipment issued to the crews of Amphibious tanks during the Normandy landings. Set is complete with the original canvas pack, hose and rubberised mouth piece. Original webbing straps remain with the item. Complete with the original instruction ticket. These breathing apparatus were issued to crews of the Duplex Drive M4 Sherman Tanks during the Normandy landings (D-Day) on 6th June 1944. They were issued to British, Canadian and American tank crews. The amphibious tanks had mixed success on D-Day, due to the conditions of the sea on the morning of the invasion, many of the tanks could not be launched and what did came into difficulty, the worst of which were the American crews launched to support Omaha beach, nearly all the tanks launched to support the beach assault were lost. Very few of these apparatus remain outside of museums.
Rare Waffen SS LAH “Adolf Hitler” Flat Wire Officers Cuff Title, excellent uniform removed example of this very rare and sought after cuff band. Band is finished to the ends in the correct style, black cloth over the central lettering. Some wear to the wire in the lettering. Overall an excellent example of a very rare and desirable cuff title.
Rare Victorian Northamptonshire & Rutland Militia Officers Helmet Plate, fine white metal eight pointed star with Victorian crown replacing the top point of the star, laurel overspray with gilt metal two part scroll having “NORTHAMPTONSHIRE” to the top and “& RUTLAND MILITIA” to the lower scroll, centre of the plate is order of the garter strap with red enamel cross. Three lug fittings to the reverse. Plate remains in very good condition.
