A very rare Ernst Plank German hot air engine, of early 20th century vertical design, having an air cooled single cylinder with oiler cup to side supported on cast and turned supports, with balanced crank, crank guard, brass oiler cups, eccentric driven flame valve with burner fitted to side above, 16cm diameter spoked flywheel with small ‘V’ belt pulley, finished in original paintwork with traditional Ernst Plank trade transfer below crank guard (some chrome finish missing), the base measuring 17cm x 16cm, 29cm high. The vendor’s grandfather, the late William S. Gilham Royal Engineer Signals, believed it to have been used in the First World War to drive tent fans in India.
Comte de ) Voyage Pittoresque dans l'Empire Ottoman, atlas vol Comte de ) Voyage Pittoresque dans l'Empire Ottoman , atlas vol. only (without the four octavo vol.), 2 parts in one, second edition, part-titles with engraved vignettes, engraved portrait, 2 engraved maps only (of 4), 14 unnumbered plates of engraved head-pieces, 288 engraved plates (only, of 290, lacking plates 18 & 70 in second part) on 170 sheets, first part title badly creased, damp-staining, browning and foxing affecting most plates to varying degree, a few old repairs, contemporary sheep-backed marbled boards with vellum corner-tips, rubbed, spine worn and defective, [ Atabey 242; this edition not in Blackmer], folio, Paris, J. P. Aillaud, 1842. French Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire and an avid traveler and lover of antiquities, Choiseul-Gouffier first published his impressions of Greece and the Ottoman Empire as Voyage Pittoresque en Grece in 1782. In 1842, the work was posthumously republished as Voyage pittoresque dans l'Empire Ottoman . This second edition quite rare, with only the Atabey copy (selling for £14,000 in 2002) and one other in the auction records.

XI, ex-library copies with stamps throughout, occasional spotting but generally clean and bright, new endpapers, modern morocco backed cloth, [ Nissen ZBI 2722], 4to, Nuremberg, 1769-1795. A very important work on conchology, begun by Friedrich Heinrich Wilhelm Martini (1729-1778) and continued by Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz after the publication of the third volume. Included here is the rare eleventh volume, published in 1795.

A Rare Aesthetic Movement Highly Carved Cabinet Cupboard In Oak. The top has three leaded top doors with carved geometric panels below, crisply carved. The top has three panels carved with a Japanese style decoration. The cupboards are supported by 'L' shaped iron hinges of simple form. The base has three large drawers with unusual steel ring pull handles. The sides are finely carved to match the front of the cupboard. Terminates on a square reeded type leg. Carved & signed to the sides, Makers name 'J.C.Sowerby' Dated 1886. Similar to pieces sold by Libertys Of London in the late 19th Century. 70'' in height, 18'' in depth & 79.5'' in width.

St. Helena : (SG 34ba) 1884 QV Crown CA ½d on 6d emerald with part original gum showing DOUBLE SURCHARGE - ONE WITH N Y SPACED - extremely rare with probably only two examples known - complete with 1975 BPA cert stating it to be genuine but not recognising the NY variety and unkindly describing it as 'soiled' whereas this adhesive is of very good to fine appearance, of fine colour and well centred for this issue. Upon the reverse we note trivial imperfections, small blue manuscript (not affecting appearance), partial hinge remnant and light pencil / gum bend. Possibly unique mint part o.g.
