Chaplain, head of Ceres left, rev. Fame blowing trumpet, cherub below holding tablet, named (Osterberg), 68mm (Maier 65; PBE 48; BDM I, 402; Jones, Art of the Medal, 313) [2]. Extremely fine, a rare pair worthy of further research; in fitted case, lid gilt-blocked ‘1869-1878’ £150-£200 --- Froment-Meurice, one of the most famous silver and goldsmiths of the 19th century, established by François-Désiré Froment-Meurice (1802-55). The workshop closed in 1907.
