NO RESERVE Verne (Jules) A Journey to the Centre of the Earth, new edition, engraved frontispiece and plates after Riou, publisher's catalogue at end, ownership inscription to front free endpaper, very faint even browning, a very little scattered spotting, contents just beginning to separate, original cloth, stamped in black and gilt, rubbed along joints and at spine ends, bumped, 8vo, 1874.⁂This the third impression of the first English edition. Rare.

South Sea Bubble.- The Case of Robert Surman, single sheet, whole sheet 314 x 200mm., docket title, some marginal staining, folds, [William Bowyer], [1728].⁂ Rare. ESTC lists only three copies (2 BL and 1 Guildhall). Surman was Deputy Cashier of the South Sea Company in 1720 and spent a short time in prison when the 'Bubble' burst. However, he survived with £5000 and became a partner in Martin's Bank, and later founded his own bank, Surman, Dineley and Cliffe.
ROYAL DOULTON; an extremely rare 'One of the Forty' figure designed by H. Tittensor, marked to base HN666, impressed mark 296 and 7.25, height approx 18cm.Additional InformationLight crazing as you would expect, slight rubbing to raised parts but apparently free from damage or restoration, please see additional images.
CHELSEA; a large gold anchor period figure of Europe from the 'Four Quarters of the Globe' series circa 1765, modelled as a girl wearing a six pointed gilt diadem, floral decorated cloak and holding an orb in her right hand, apparently unmarked, height 36.5cm. Provenance: from a private collection in Worcestershire purchased from D & S March. Additional InformationThere has been extensive damage and restoration to the figure. Her left arm, hand and staff are restored, as is the diadem. The figure has been cracked and broken through, which is clearly visible from the base and has been restored to a large proportion, however this is clearly a rare figure.
OF LOCAL INTEREST; a rare commemorative pearlware jug, detailing the Manchester Peterloo Massacre of 1819 with floral painted border and decorated to one side with a view of Peters Street and surrounding area and to the reverse inscribed 'No Corn Bill Universal Suffrage, Annual Parliaments and vote by ballots', height 14.5cm.Additional InformationThere is a minute glaze chip to the front of the rim of the jug, losses to the gilding and fading to the pink decoration noticeably on the handle, some staining around the base creeping into the foot rib and general pitting to surface but overall in excellent condition and free from major damage and restoration.
